Has anyone gotten off of the waitlist yet?

Wednesday I got a call from Swarthmore admissions--I'm in! The excitement was so overwhelming!

Good luck to those who are still waiting--

I heard of one very happy waitlistee who got a phone call yesterday afternoon. Other than that, I haven't heard any indication of numbers.

Congratulations TSA!
I believe that you were also in at Pomona. Were you planning to enroll there?
Or will you now be enrolling at Swat?

I did send in my deposit fee for Pomona--but, barring any poor financial aid package (the finaid information will probably arrive this Monday), I will definitely be enrolling at Swat.

I already ordered my Swat t-shirt :]

Excellent! Did you order a "regular" t-shirt or one of the "humorous" ones? My S has one which says "Swarthmore Academics", as well as one which has a lovely picture of Parrish Hall, under which it says "Contents Under Pressure."

Does anyone know about any waitlist activity for this year, how many people will they take?

Congrats TSA...I remember you and I were in the waitlist thread sort of just being frustrated.....all I can say is that I haven't gotten into Swat....

The admissions counselor who called me with the good news indicated that "very few" people would be taken off of the waiting list this year. If I were to guess numbers, I'd estimate that 5-15 waitlistees will be offered a place in the class, though I really have no information to support that assumption.

Anonymous99--Who knows, your luck might turn around in the next couple weeks. Where did you end up enrolling?

momof3sons--I just ordered the classic "Stretch Arch T-Shirt." I wasn't ready to get a humorous shirt just yet, because then I'd have to deal with even more questions from friends and teachers, beyond the "What's the name of it again?" or "Isn't that in New York?"--and my personal favorite: "But didn't you get into the University of Michigan?"

...ended up enrolling at Emory; going to visit tomorrow!

Yes, yes, TSA, you're so right-
"Where do you go to school?"
"Swarthmore."
"Isn't that a girls school in upstate NY?"
"No, you're thinking of Skidmore, and they went co-ed many years ago."
Better to stick with the regular T-shirt for now.

My neighbor gave my the all girls school question the other day...I'm almost getting sick of it, haha. Somebody needs to make a shirt about that, like "Swarthmore - Accepting guys since 1864"
