Does anyone have an idea of how many are taken off the waitlist?

I think it varies, depending on how many of the admitted students enroll...

Though it may be higher this year if Swarthmore decided to accept fewer and waitlist more given the recent student tendency to apply to more colleges and craze over college rankings (which, happen to give matriculation rates some kind of weight).

I got waitlisted but I opted out of being put on it officially.

I'm still on the waitlist. I sent in recommendations, updates etc, and no news yet. I've got low expectations, it seems very unpredictable and unlikely to get in from the waitlist.

wait did they send any emails or notificatoins taht they recieved the waitlist postcard?

i didn't get anything, but i talked to an admissions person and confirmed it.

Well, in the Swat facebook group, one person so far has gotten in off the waitlist, so there's hope yet.

Yes, it seems like at least that one person has been allowed in, and there will probably be more, which is good! Hopefully we'll still have that small class of 365. :]

Swarthmore has, indeed, begun to take students off the wait-list.

I got in off the waitlist! Got a call today from my regional officer letting me know that there's a spot for me...I'm so happy, Swat was my first choice. I was crushed when I got waitlisted, and even though I sent in recommendations and kept in touch, I didn't have much hope. I don't know how exactly this happened, I guess someone there just likes me, or I must fit something they're looking for. Anyways, I'm estatic!!!

Congratulations, sunflower. I'm really happy for you. I know that you were really disappointed. I guess it was meant to be, afterall, huh?

Thanks! I guess so :)

Sunflower...congratulations….Swarthmore is a wonderful place with wonderful people….I am sure you will find to be all you have hoped for in a college experience…..

Sunflower,
Congratulations! My son will be graduating from Swat next weekend. I hope you have as wonderful an experience as he has had. Enjoy your summer!

Thank you!!

Woo Woo - Swarthmore Class of 2011!!! ;laksdjf

[alright, so my last day of high school is tomorrow, and studying for this physics test is really proving to be very difficult. But hey, I'm on my first step there: I have cleaned my desk and placed my physics book on my desk. However, I did that over an hour and a half ago. Okay, time to buckle down and study.]
