All CSU’s admit by eligibility index and major, so the waitlist is most likely ranked by major and EI. CSU Long Beach is an impacted campus, so all majors are impacted but Marine Biology is probably not as impacted as Engineering/CS majors.
My advice as a waitlisted applicant is get excited about your other options and if you are admitted off the waitlist then it is icing on the cake…
I applied for Marine Biology and got waitlisted. I have a 3.89 and my sat score is a 1030. I have sent a letter of appeal to the admissions office and I was wondering if anyone knew my chances of getting in. This is the only school I am considering so it is really important to me.
I called admissions and they told me there are 9000 people on the waitlist. :-/ That number is broken down into the majors but she couldn’t or wouldn’t tell me how much of that was in my daughters major (art). They also told me they do not consider letters although we could appeal if she did not get accepted off the waitlist. The decisions are based on how many spots open up and eligibility index and major. Good luck but would keep a backup plan in mind. My daughter is going to CSUN! She fell in love with the campus and the art department.
Thanks everyone. This is actually for my daughter. She now wants to change to Bio, but is hoping she can be admitted off the wait list in Marine Bio and then change her major once she’s enrolled.
