Waitlist question

I have a weird question. Although I decided to remain on the waitlist at Columbia, I did not submit an appeal letter. I fell in love with the atmosphere at the school I’ve committed to so I decided maybe it was best to forget about Columbia. However, I am now feeling some sort of regret for not trying to send an appeal. I wanted to know what would happen if a letter wasn’t sent. Is it an automatic rejection or is your application still viewed? Should I send a personal email expressing my Interest? They made it seem optional in the email :/.

You told Columbia that you’d like to remain on the waitlist. That is good enough. The only reason for sending an update would be if there were something new to add to your application.

Look up buyer’s remorse, then move on.
