does anyone know if the school calls for 3rd quarter grades when making decisions about the waitlist?

i have no special insight as to the waitlist process, but i would say that you should forward your 3rd qtr grades with a note if you would like them to be considered (unless, of course, there is some official process that is explained in the waitlist letter). good luck, highhopes05!

Just for your information, I heard more people decided to come to Pomona than they expected, so it looks like no one will be admitted off the waitlist.

"I heard more people decided to come to Pomona than they expected."

Hooray, I'm living in a cardboard box net year.

gnatcire, have they released the stats for the class of 2009 yet? sat, class size, rank, % yield, etc?

uh oh
get deffered for room draw?

do you mind telling me where your info is from?

(i am very grateful for the heads-up, thanks)

I think they would have told you already if you were off the waitlist. All deposits were due May 1st and I was talkign to an Associate Dean of Admissions and it seemed to me they had received the majority of them. I think you would have been notified by the end of last week.
There's still a chance that a letter might come but for now focus on the school you have chosen.
Good luck with that

Kosuke - I don't think they publish that information until the Fall.

HighHopes05 - My sponsee talked to Bruce Poch, the Dean of Admissions, because her sister had a medical emergency and couldn't make a decision about where to attend by May 1st. While she talked to him, he said that they didn't know what they were going to do about housing since more people had said "yes" than they expected.

Cliff - maybe they'll keep the trailers next semester... at least they are big and have conditioning...

again, am grateful for the info. thanks so much-
hope you guys have a great 4 ys!

haha damn that sucks
does that mean that a lot of people are gonna have soem ghetto ass housing?

My S also got deferred with a horrible number, guess he'll be in a cardboard box as well! Guess Sophomore year is the worst.

highhopes- thanks. im sorry everything didnt work out exactly how you might have wanted it to, but Vassar is an awesome school with an awesome campus. i sort of envy you, my few problems with pomona concern its lack of HUGE modern style buildings, small workout facility, and small campus; why didnt they just expand instead of creating the consortium? anyways, i know youll enjoy Vassar if in the end you dont get off of the waitlist. hope your 4 years are great too!

they are taking "very few" applicants from the waitlist.

i was wondering if anyone know's anyone (who maybe knows someone) who's been contacted :)

i try to let go but something stops me

sorry if this seems a little desperate. i dont mean it that way.

hi guys

pomona called me yesterday offering me a spot off the waitlist. i definitely want to go there and i'm really happy.

i spoke to my guidance counselor and he called pomona and found out that there was a "3% chance" for anyone from the waitlist to get off this year... so i was shocked.

if you have any questions let me know :)

akwired, congratulations!!!! Great news, it is very rare to be offered a spot off the waitlist!!! Where were you planning on going prior to this?

i put in my deposit for claremont mckenna, but i was also taken off the waitlist for wesleyan right before pomona called, haha. yeah this process of deciding has taken some interesting turns..

did they tell you how long you had to tell them definitivly?

(not that anyone would turn down pomona...)

well that waitlisting really went well for you.

i guess the housing for sophomores can't be that bad if they're offering people spots fromt he waitlist.

kosuke - i feel the same way.
the only problem i had with the campus when i visited was its size and its lack of huge impressive buildings. i mean the builings are very nice but pomona lacks those cool historic buldings some of the colleges on the east coast have. not that big of a deal though.

hmm.. sorry, I must have gotten the wrong information then, but that means that there is still hope for you. good luck
