waitlist stats?

Does anyone know how many people were placed on the waitlist this year?

The letter says that they do not rank the wait list until they know whether they are going to draw from it...we of course are hoping they do. Immediately accepted to be on it, and have all fingers crossed.

We love Lafayette and are just crushed to have been waitlisted after a personal tour by faculty member, great alumni interview, and what we thought was a solid chance. Any one have something to share to help either understand or give hope? Candyman?

Qtflt,

I’m sorry to hear about your situation – the waitlist is a place no one wants to be, for sure!

I don’t have any information at this point on the number of applicants offered a place on the waitlist, nor how many have agreed to be placed on it. Of course, each year brings with it a different yield % of those accepted, so it’s very difficult to say how likely one is to get accepted off the waitlist.

However, in the meantime, I definitely wouldn’t sit back and twittle my thumbs. Take the initiative and send your regional admissions representative (see: [Lafayette College Admissions](http://lafayette.edu/admissions/staff.html)) a typed letter describing your experiences/feelings as you’ve done in your post – what did that personal tour and alum interview mean to you? If you have any updates regarding classes or extracurricular accomplishments, be sure to share that sort of information as well.

Make the effort now rather than later. Time is of the essence!

Thanks - I actually have all that in the works, after settling myself from the initial explosion of disappointment. I still have a chance!

I appreciate your responding to me, and all of us on this thread so quickly. You, like Lafayette itself, really make people want to attend a place that is so positive and friendly.

i was placed on the waitlist last year and got in the day after you had to send your deposits in! they know how many people theyre getting in the incoming class by may 1st and they called me may 2nd! so dont worry they use theyre waitlist a LOT cause they guarantee housing all four years so they have to make sure they dont take too many kids! and this year theyre going to take even more off the waitlist because of the economy. you could even get a call in june or july so dont give up! i actually applied there as a transfer and i might attend in the fall too!
