Waitlist

My D was on a waitlist last yr. She mailed and emailed letters expressing her desire to attend that school and confirmed all her contact info. She finally got the call in June.

@classicalmama-I now see your point. Thanks for clarifying it.

@dodgersmom-I too was also very curious about whether they would move to the next person off the waitlist if you don’t answer. I suppose it would be wise to call the school and update your contact info, just in case?

im confused to as why they would contact in June. Did people not decide to go to boarding school or what

@andoverhopefulX-in some cases, (this is probably the most common) the tuition might’ve been just too much for the family to pay. So they have to drop out. Other unusual cases also happen as well, and the school needs its spots filled. So what do they do? Go to the waitlist!

i can understand that in this economy

Great work guys! BUMP…

Do you think anyone will be taken off of the Andover/Exeter waiting list this year??

I know that Exeter accepted less people this year because they are predicting a higher yield than most years

And if that doesn’t happen, then they will go to the waitlist.

Yes, that is what the waitlist is for. Unfortunately at most of the HADES school waitlists are somewhat large and very few if not any are chosen but best wishes to all of you. As someone on this forum said hope for the best prepare for the worst.

@EternalTime-My father contacted Exeter’s admission office and they told him that they offered less spots this year-I believe around 10 to 20. I think that with that large a number, they will possibly go to the waitlist.

[grumble . . . grumble]

Fewer people . . . fewer spots . . . okay?

Regarding updates of contact info - if there’s a change, let the schools know.

ciriclemidnight i thinnk after today we will truly know if spots really exist or not because today was the deadline for decisions

D notified 4/9/11, she is off the waitlist and has been accepted to Taft as a rising sophomore.

^^Congrats, cookbookmom, that’s awesome!!!

Congratulations going Rhino and best of luck!

Congratulations cookbookmom!!!

St. Andrew’s sent email that they are fully enrolled as of April 11 ~

I am sorry to have to report to you that as of today, April 11th, we are fully enrolled for this next school year in all grades. With this update, we recommend that you confirm plans with another school, if you havenʼt already, to be sure that you have a place for next year.

At the same time, know that we will continue to keep you on our wait list throughout the spring and summer in case an enrolled student has a change of plans and a new space becomes available for you. A common question from people on the wait list concerns financial aid. I want to assure you that if you qualify for a financial aid grant and you are offered a space at St. Andrewʼs at any time, we will have the funds for the financial aid grant for which you qualify.

Again, thank you for all of your effort on your application and any supplementary information you have shared. We truly regret that we do not have the space to enroll all of the qualified students that we would like to enroll. We wish you the very best.

How do we find out about the spaces at exeter/andover? wouldn’t calling them and asking be rude?

That was fast, I wonder if SAS over extended, again.
