I am super disappointed to be waitlisted at Haverford because I realllly loved the school. But now I am further upset because it seems that there is no chance now for acceptance from my other top two choices Amherst and Swarthmore. What do you think? Is it unheard of for Haverford waitlistees to be accepted at other super prestigious LACs?

Each LAC looks for slightly different types of applicants, while creating their own diverse student bodies. So don't give up hope yet... Swarthmore might see you as more of a Swattie than Haverford pictures you as a 'Fordian. :)

My daugther was waitlisted at Pomona and Williams but accepted at Haverford and Swarthmore several years ago. You never know what will happen until you get all the envelopes.

i definitely agree there's a lot of randomness with admissions. i just got waitlisted at vassar (haverford>>vassar)... hopefully my vassar will be your haverford. but i swear, if you wind up at swat and yell out safety school, so help me... :)

Thanks, wok the line. Don't worry about me becoming a Swattie and yelling safety school to you 'Fordians. One, my hopes of admission aren't too high. Two, I won't forget that that "safety school" waitlisted me...Congrats to you though!

Last year, I heard there were lots of students rejected from Haverford who got into Princeton, Williams, Swarthmore....and who got into haverford and rejected from these colleges.
Dont worry, every college emphasizes on different aspect of your application and life, and I am sure you will fit into one of the colleges you have applied.

If you were waitlisted at Haverford, it means that you were fully qualified. Admissions officers have to make some tough choices to create a diversified student body. You don't know what the admissions officers are looking for - or what choices they will make - at the other schools.

Besides, you'll have all your information in front of you in a few days. No sense in worrying now.
