@kjn477 any of your friends get into US schools?
A couple of them, but most of them stayed in Ireland. One of my parents went to the states which is why I wanted to apply
that is cool
Has anyone heard anything more yet?
nothing yet. so far one person on reddit and two people here have gotten off the waitlist. hopefully more will come.
^ I’d expect more to be accepted from the waitlist. From the NY Times’ “Coronavirus Drives Signs of a Major Drop in College Enrollment”:
“… experts say that the number of wait-listed students who are now getting offers … shows that even some of the most selective schools are acting more aggressively to fill freshman classes.”
"People are coming off wait lists all over the place right now,” said Debra Felix, a former admissions director… "it tells me that the yeses are coming back very slowly, or people are getting back to them quickly with noes.”

i just hope vassar is not following in the footsteps of barnard who is admitting primarily full pay students.
I think a lot of colleges are factoring in citizenship as well, which might bode well for some American applicants. Unfortunately, they might have to prioritise full-paying students which sucks.
i don’t want to make it seem like i’m bashing vassar, but on the common data set vassar reports its’ waitlist as not ranked. but, doesn’t being need aware, ipso facto, make the waitlist ranked, not by academic measures but by financial ones?
the board of trustees should look into whether or not they want vassar to be truly inclusive or only on the surface.
for the sake of levity, here are the lyrics to john mayer’s – new light.
I’m the boy in your other phone
Lighting up inside your drawer at home all alone
Pushing 40 in the friend zone
We talk and then you walk away every day
Oh, you don’t think twice 'bout me
And maybe you’re right to doubt me, but
But if you give me just one night
You’re gonna see me in a new light
Yeah, if you give me just one night
To meet you underneath the moonlight
Oh, I want a take two, I want to breakthrough
I wanna know the real thing about you
So I can see you in a new light
Take a ride up to Malibu
I just wanna stay to look at you, look at you
What would it matter if your friends knew?
Who cares what other people say anyway
Oh, we can go far from the end
And make a new world together baby
'Cause if you give me just one night
You’re gonna see me in a new light
Yeah, if you give me just one night
To meet you underneath the moonlight
Oh, I want a take two, I want to breakthrough
I wanna know the real thing about you
So I can see you in a new light
Ay, ay
Ay, ay
Ay, ay
Ay, ay
Ay, ay
Ay, ay
Ay, ay
Ah ah ah ah ah
Yeah, if you give me just one night
You gonna see me in a new light
Yeah, if you give me just one night
To meet you underneath the moonlight
What do I do with all this?
What do I do with all this love that’s running through my veins for you
What do I do with all this?
What do I do with all this love that’s running through my veins for you
What do I do with all this?
What do I do with all this love that’s running through my veins for you
What do I do with all this?
What do I do with all this, oh yeah
lol look at the vid of john mayer’s new light. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ055hHdxbE and imagine that was some MT student’s audition tape.
forgive me but i’m on a roll. i challenge the myriad a capella groups at vassar to their rendition of john mayer’s new light. they can record and produce it at home remotely. this would be good inspiration for those on the waitlist.

“…Who cares what other people say anyway…” how is that not vassar’s slogan?
Have to agree with you, the way they handled this year’s admissions was not great…
Hi! I’m a member of the Vassar class of 2024. I wanted to reach out and offer any insights to people who have gotten off the waitlist and are now considering Vassar.
Haven’t seen any updates in a while, has anyone heard anything recently?
I was just accepted! I received an email from a Vassar admissions representative a couple of minutes ago.
As a Vassar grad, I totally agree. But, lets remember that Vassar grants 60% of its students substantial fin aid (50k+ is the average). It’s elitist like every other top college, but it definitely goes above and beyond the rest in terms of trying to make college affordable. There are limits to which it can shell out money for fin aid, but I know that unlike other schools, it reevaluates fin aid every year in case your parents had a significant change in income and can no longer pay the amount you could earlier. Of course, it needs to do better, but still, credit where credit is due.
