Waitlisted Candidates 2022

I figured I would start a discussion for waitlisted candidates this year. When we indicate our interest in being placed on the waiting list, there’s a section for “additional information.” Anyone have thoughts on what should be included here?

Get another recommendation from someone who knows you well. Send an abstract or copy of any college level work you may have done. Update the transcript and still have excellent grades. Write a letter saying that Bowdoin is still your absolute first choice and you will absolutely get in if accepted. My DS got off the Midd waitlist a few years ago with that approach. His letter was from a college professor that he had done some work with. Good luck! I hope for your sake they go to the wait list. However, remember, there isn’t just one good school for anyone-hope you have some other great options!

Does anybody know - if Bowdoin accepts you from the waitlist, how quickly do you need to accept?

Usually you get 24 hours, because others’ options depend on it,

Any updates?

Any good news?

Did everyone get the option to stay on the waitlist? I’m assuming so…I’m not surprised it’s full; I believe this year was their highest yield. I could be wrong.

“Dear *******,

I am writing to update you on the waitlist at Bowdoin.

Bowdoin’s Class of 2022 is currently at capacity. At this point in the process, it seems unlikely that we will have any waitlist openings; however, with many other colleges using their waitlists, it is difficult to know when that activity will stop. If you are interested, we can hold your file in case we have the opportunity to call you with an offer of admission.

If there are no openings over the next month or so, we will close out the waitlist in early July and allow you and others to move ahead with plans to enroll at the college where you are currently deposited.

We realize that waiting is difficult, and that the prospect of a few additional weeks may affect your desire to remain on the Bowdoin waitlist. We would appreciate it if you would respond to this offer by Friday, June 1, 2018 at 5 p.m. EDT. We would also request that you send us a copy of your final grades (if available) or your most recent grading period to ensure we have the relevant information available should a space in the class become available. Transcripts may be emailed or faxed to our office.

Thank you again for your interest in Bowdoin.

With best wishes,

E. Whitney Soule
Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid”

Both my twin and I got this option. I guess everyone who has chosen to stay on the waitlist has received the same email :-/ Anyway, I’m still having a bit of hope…
