@theatremom10 praying together is great! He was in contact with them today and they said they would be revisiting the WL at the end of March. Waiting is so difficult!
I agree @cwp1013 the waiting has been awful and I guess it will continue:( Did your son email Vicky directly or admissions about the notification date for WL? On another note my son received good news today and was accepted to Utah MT!
Congratulations @theatremom10 !! It’s so great to get a “yes!” And my son sent the email to the Conservatory Admissions Coord.
FYI… my D didn’t get her offer off the WL until late April her year… I think they really wait to see how the class is shaping up - who is committing, etc. and that takes you into April generally.
Does anyone know how many are on the wait list for MT this year (not whole conservatory, but just MT)? And anybody know how many got off WL for MT last year?
Thin envelope arrived from BW today…
I know of one for sure last year, but I’m not sure how many others. The kids really don’t discuss it, @MomofMTBoy.
I hope envelope is wait list info. Hugs!
Just opened it. Son texted: “Open it.” “No don’t open it.” “ok open it.” “What does it say?” It was a copy of the email WL him. Whew.
Oh good @MomofMTBoy!
Do you think WL kids can visit and sit in on classes?
I’d call and ask. We did not - so I cannot say whether it is possible or not.
BW allows HS Juniors to sit in on classes, take tours, etc. I am curious how they handle WL. Please update us after you call. I’m also sending you a PM.
Has anyone gotten off WL yet? Has anyone been released from WL yet?
@theatremom10 @cwp1013 and @EIS0301 ^^^^^ Any news?
Just out of curiosity, anyone know how a student who was redirected to BA Theatre major at BW after an MT audition would fare with the rest of the conservatory if they were to audition for shows? Obviously this would, in my opinion, not really be a good place for the student, namely my D, who would not want to be at a dream school and not in a dream program, but I was wondering if anyone had inside info as to how the conservatory works with non-conservatory students who audition? Do they ever get in and if they do, would they be welcomed? Not the sort of questions I would have thought to ask at the audition. Thanks anyone…
@missnypizza My S is just a freshman. I know other conservatory students were in the musical this year, but I’m not sure outside of conservatory. @kategrizz or @artskids will have to elaborate.
In general, if she has MT acceptances, she should consider what she would lose or gain by choosing BA Theatre. Out of curiosity, was she accepted to BFA Acting or BA Theatre?
@missnypizza BW has open auditions. In most (but not all) musicals, there are at least one or two non MT’s cast. I’ve known a vocal performance major, a theater major and a composition major to be cast in the time that my D has been attending. Students are welcoming of all who are cast. That being said, I think it would be extraordinarily difficult to be at your dream school, but not in your dream program. My D had a great friend freshman year that came as a BA hoping to reaudition and be admitted… she now attends another well regarded BFA MT program. I also know a student who came as a VP major, who also transferred to a BFA MT when she was not admitted upon reaudition. I only know of one student currently in the program that auditioned successfully for the program after spending a year at BW… so the odds seem quite long from where I sit.
@IfYouOnlyKnew @kategrizz Thanks so much your insight! I agree it would be hard to attend a school that’s and not in your dream program. She was admitted for BA theatre.
@MomofMTBoy I was actually released from my BW waitlist position (as in I did not receive a spot in the program) about a week or two ago.
You know EIS0301 I cannot help but express my admiration for you. You have been accepted into the two most competitive and widely acclaimed programs in he country, yet you have the humility to publicly acknowledge you too have been rejected from a top MT program. Good for you…you are clearly not only a stellar performer but also a high quality human being. I look forward to seeing your name in lights
