Waitlisted (so, rejected) but I have a story to tell

Some people like living in the city. I would hate it. I’ve always found it nice that when I want to just hang out late at night, all my friends are on campus and we can do whatever. Plus, it’s nice to be able to see the stars at night. If you’re a fan of the city, that’s fine. It’s a matter of preference.

Yes, it’s harder to get A’s at Princeton. But that makes that A’s one earns more rewarding. Also, it’s fine to get a B and know that it won’t necessarily disqualify you from departmental honors. There’s a lot less pressure to get a 4.0 because it happens a lot less often than at peer schools (nobody in the class of 2011 had a 4.0).

PrincetonFML easily compensates for WikiCU (and is also updated much more frequently). In fact, straight from WikiCU, Princeton is known for being the “Anti-Columbia,” due in part to “open space,” “athletic success,” and “a strong focus on undergraduate education.”

If you’re talking racial diversity, the actual figure is almost exactly four to three, not two to one. I’m not going to look for data on economic diversity, but I bet Columbia is more economically diverse.

This is solely a matter of preference. If you want classical, Princeton does have Whig and Clio halls, but nothing rocks like walking out from under the East Pyne arch toward the chapel as the sun rises behind Firestone Library.

I’m quite glad I don’t have to take classical music and art and can instead take classes I will appreciate rather than have the Core tell me what I should appreciate. While I think this is a great tool for developing a quintessential “Columbia experience,” I find the inflexibility of the Core intellectually alarming as the entire student body will have built an academic foundation on the same (or very similar) material.

If you’re talking about the CU band’s shows at football games, you don’t know what you’re dealing with. The PUB is widely known for their obnoxiously loud plaid jackets and general awesomeness. I went to the Princeton @ Columbia football game, and I could tell why common Ivy League knowledge says that Princeton and Brown have the best Ivy bands.

I have nothing against Columbia, but on some things you’re straight-up wrong. I hope you enjoy Columbia, but there’s really no reason to beat down on Princeton here.
