Waitlisted

Hi. So I got waitlisted to UCR for College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and they said that they will notify me by May 9! That's really late considering that decisions for almost all schools must be made by May 1st. So I was wondering what are my chances of getting admitted? Also, is it worth waiting for? THanks.

If UCR is your first choice, just make sure you SIR to your second choice school before the deadline. You will lose the registration fee there if UCR accepts you, but I thought it was worth it. I got wait listed at UCR last year and was accepted before the May deadline. So it does work! Good luck!

Thanks! Hopefully I will get admitted before the May 1st deadline too.

I heard that waitlist for ucr is a 50/50 shot. Most likely people don’t get in.

@meganmegan i was waitlisted at UCR too, as biochemistry major. What major did you apply for?

Biology. are we suppose to write a letter?

Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get in.
I was wait-listed last year to BCOE, which is harder to get in, and it took them FOREVER to reply to me. I think it was late May until I heard from them, maybe even early June when I found out they accepted me from wait-list, don’t remember. But yeah, I would make sure you take precautions by checking up on second/third choices just in case.

i was reading other forums and people said there’s no need to write an appeal since we’ve been waitlisted. But if they do reject me after being waitlisted i’ll probably write a letter.

So far, the people that I’ve talked to that were waitlisted from UCR were biochemistry majors as well.

but I hope we both get admitted! good luck!

thanks! yeah I hope we both get admitted! hopefully they tell us by may 9th.

This brings back memories for me. I was waitlisted last year. I got in, but they also told me May 9th but they didn’t notify me until like a week later. BUT, I’m pretty sure that almost everyone (if not all) that was on the waitlist was eventually admitted.

Best of luck to you two.

oh crap thats true everyone so far iknow got waitlisted was for biochem :0 if i dont get biochem do you think they will let me get my second choice chem?

Thank you @42327119 ! that’s really comforting to hear! Even though it was a week AFTER May 9th  I really need to know now!

& @ucirvine789 that’s what i’m hoping for as well :(

I got waisted too :frowning: it’s so nerve racking!

Are you guys OOS or what? I don’t know if where I live plays any factor (I live in Riverside), but I got into Biochem.

Hey, so have any of you guys who have been waitlisted to ucr heard back yet?
Please let me know! and if you guys have anyways waitlist information about ucr please post up because I don’t know anything :/

what major were you waitlisted for? I applied as a chem major but they waitlisted me for natural/agricultural sciences
and do you remember how many people got in from being waitlisted?

I haven’t known anything. I have a brother who goes there and spoke with an admissions counselor but the guy said to wait and we will hear back latest by May 9th.
Good luck! Hope we get in!

I got waitlisted for psychology major. and i checked the FAQs they say we will be notified BEFORE may 9th. this is very soon compares to UCI and UCD. or all the other UCs.

Today on the account it says :

At this time, we are currently analyzing the number of Statements of Intent to Register (SIRs) we have received from freshman applicants against the space we have available (classrooms, labs, etc.) to ascertain whether we will be able to admit students from our waitlist. As soon as this determination is made, it will be reflected on your account. We expect to finalize this process by May 18. We realize this is an extremely stressful time for our waitlisted population, and remain committed to releasing decisions as soon as we have completed our analysis. Thank you for your continued patience.

that’s so late.

A quick word of reassurance to the people that were waitlisted, especially if you were waitlisted to BCOE or to CNAS as a Bio/BioChem/Chem major: I was having a discussion with my schools head counselor last week regarding the admissions process, and he was explaining that, because the “Pre-Med” and Engineering majors are the most impacted, admission to those majors is the most competitive at UCR. I can assure you of the accuracy of this information, and hopefully it will give you a little reassurance that, as the adage goes, “Its not you; its them.”

If that’s no cause for reassurance, then at least take this: I was admitted to CNAS as a BioChem major, but then switched my major to Physics – one of the least impacted majors in CNAS – meaning there’s now an extra spot for you BioChem folk;) Best of luck to everyone!
