Waitlist Questions.

I applied to UCR but was just waitlisted today for "the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences." UCR is my dream school, and I'm not really upset at the waitlist.. better than 100% rejection! =3 (I applied for Biology. )

But I have a few questions..

If I do end up getting accepted later on, do I have the chance at all to change the major?
(The major I applied for was Biology, But I'd rather major in Asian studies than Agricultural science.. unless that's a good major to have if I end up becoming a veterinarian?)

It says I have the chance of being admitted if a slot opens up.. Does this mean when the SIR deadline passes and they calculate how many people actually chose to attend UCR.. if they have space they will accept me?

When do they usually contact people on the waitlist to notify them of acceptance/rejection?
Is it before attendance calculations are made, or before it? Or something like that? >_<

Thank you! If you can provide any links to helpful threads/sites with info on waitlist, that will be helpful too. =3

If my questions are hard to understand, please let me know~

A friend answered Question 1 for me: It means they've reached the maximum they can accept for Biology majors. They'll accept you as an Agricultural Sciences major in order to be able to accept you then you can change majors once you've been accepted. It's a tactic to be able to accept students but can't place in the asked for major.

Is she correct? I hope so. >_<

2) They’ll look at the first major numbers once the official reply date passes. That will show any shortfall in projected students. Then they’ll go to the WL to fill those slots. If there are still openings, they’ll go again. Maybe one or two more rounds.

3) Schools usually “close” their waitlists sometime in August but it depends. If few slots open up earlier, they may “close” everything earlier once they fill enough spots.

Alright, thank you~ =3
