Id say there are about 60 spots

meaning that 60 people who got in off the waitlist already rejected wesleyan's offer of admission?

I think 60 is a rather arbitrary number....I don't think there's any way we would be able to guess...However, the next round would be offers mostly of people who turned down the waitlist offer in previous rounds. By now they're getting closer to the desired class size.

what do you guys think i should do? my situation is i got off the waitlist on tuesday and i have until the 25th to decide, but i haven't received my financial aid package yet since they wanted more info. do you think it would be okay if i asked for an extension? it takes 3 days to get mail from wesleyan for me and they're mailing the offer through snail mail. therefore, i'm afraid either i won't get the offer by wenesday or i won't have enough time to really think it through once i get the offer.

are the transfer waitlist and the freshman waitlist in any way related

sunkist: Call the admissions office and say your decision is contingent on your aid package, which you haven't gotten yet. Admissions and financial aid are two separate offices that don't really coordinate too much, so one doesn't necessarily know when the other is taking more time than it should.

thanks for the advice!

is anyone planning on forgoing wesleyan if they get into another school off of their waitlist?

Has anybody else heard from Wesleyan?

just got a letter today saying no good news... but that they want an email from me if i want to stay on a "very small waitlist" if i'm sure i'd accept. it doesn't sound too hopeful though. ... does anyone know if everyone on the waitlist got this letter?

I actually think it's very positive that you got that letter. I think the colleges want to make sure they don't "shoot blanks" - they really want to be certain that if they extend an offer you'll accept. The fact that they contacted you could very well be a good sign. If you truly would accept their offer of admission, I'd be sure to let them know immediately. You've got everything to gain, nothing to lose. But I'd only go that route if you sincerely would accept - no point playing this game unless it means something meaningful to you. If you don't think you'd go, it'd be pointless to respond, and much better to spend your time enjoying the summer!

thanks for the encouragement, danielm! I'm writing the letter right now, actually. I'm 90% positive I would accept. I won't count on anything, because that's just the admissions process, but like you said, it's not worth losing the opportunity. There's always hope....

didnt get any letter...is there a rejection letter if you arent accepted off the waitlist?

Truegibberish, I'm glad you're writing the letter. I'd hate for you to not try, and regret it. Good luck!

how many people are still on the waitlist?

I have no idea.. All they said was "We had sincerely hoped there woudl be a place in teh class for you and students like you who would be able to contribute so much to our community. Although I am not hopeful that many places will become available, I would like to offer you the opportunity to remain on a very small waiting list." Hope that helps. brwneyedgrl, your letter could still be coming, it was only written on the 27th, and I live pretty nearby. best of luck to everyone!

as far as "rejections" go...i know that at some point, if the school runs out of spaces and decides to terminate waiting list activity, they would let the remaining kids know. that won't happen until they 100% decide to not accept any more students, I believe.

I got the offer for the small waiting list too. I assumed they just sent it to everybody on the waiting list, but maybe not?

yeah waitlist activity is over. got the rejection today. hopefully hopkins has somethnig positive to offer a free spirit...

I got a call today (June 14) saying that I was in off the waitlist. Miracles do happen, eh?
