Waitlisted

bump… I’m curious about this too

waitlisted as well. i just wanna know how many approx. were waitlisted last yr so i can compare…

bump, me too.

I can’t find on the website about waitlisted numbers etc… so I’m really curious.

From the page of admissions decisions here, it seems like a very large number of people were waitlisted. Probably at least 1000, if not more… Which sucks, since I was waitlisted too. Now I have to wait even longer.

so we are all in the same bat and we are all clueless OY!

anyone find any data, all ive got is they took like 200 off the list last year and they have admitted enough students to support no more than 80% yield when in the past its been like 78%

waitlisted- how many will choose to remain i wonder?

waitlisted too. Yeah, they took 200 kids last year out of about 1000 on the waitlist. One can hope…

What Harvard’s take on sending more stuff? Does sending a letter of new accomplishments actually help, or does it just annoy them?

I got waitlisted as well. It is already a miracle that I got waitlisted. I hope a second miracle happens and I got off the waitlist.

waitlist is in the thousands not the hundreds.

I was in your shoes last year.

Don’t give up hope, but be realistic. Over the next month, figure out which school is the best fit for you, out of the ones you were accepted to, and put down the deposit.

Do a bit of soul searching…what is it about Harvard that draws you in? Identify some solid reasons for yourself, and tell that to the admissions committee in a brief but well-crafted letter. If you have any additional awards/honors that have come in, be sure to note them as well. And don’t let your grades slack!

Best of luck! Though it may feel awful right now, remember that they found something great in your application; they would have rejected you otherwise. If you get in, terrific, but if not, any of the schools you got into will provide great opportunities, as long as you reach out for them.

Oh, and I skimmed the Harvard Crimson article about admissions today. I think they said that they would probably take a large number of students off the waitlist as they did last year, but it’s hard to say…especially since Harvard’s great financial aid would be even more appealing with the economy the way it is.

Is there anything we can do as waitlistees?
Or are they just going review the applications again (+3rd term grades) once the acceptees have responded?

Ditto everyone asking how big the waitlist is. Good luck to all, sort of. :)

wait listed at Harvard, Columbia and Brown…got into Wharton…if i get enrolled into the wait list, is it binding?

The wait list is not binding. If you accept a place on the wait list, you can still turn down an acceptance if it comes.

Oh, God - it seems like a million people got waitlisted
I am not even hoping to get in off the waitlist, but I feel proud that I am on it.

Does anyone know if the fin. aid packet (if accepted) is the same as regular acceptance??? (I got wailisted at Williams, Pomona, and WashU - so this is REALLY important for me to know) THANKS!

Well I most likely won’t be accepting a spot on the waitlist thanks to Y and S. gl to everyone else!

A good friend of my daughter’s was waitlisted last year. She remained on the waitlist, but sent in her deposit to Georgetown. In mid June she was offered a spot at Harvard, accepted it and never looked back. She did get some FA too. She loves it there!
So don’t lose hope!

Does this article have good suggestions for getting off Harvard’s waitlist?
