Haha, okay :)

I’m not going to try again next year.

Haha, okay :)

I’m not going to try again next year.

:) look to the future with hope, and dwell on the past to learn, not to regret.
that’s my personal motto, as corny as it sounds

Where are you applying next year, for me I think Hotchkiss, Choate, Taft, Milton, and and…I am going to pick a safety school but I dont know which one

That’s a good motto, muffinqueen ;)

Boarderkid, I think that from previous posts you indicated that you are full pay. I know for a fact that all but the very very top schools are accepting admission applications from full pays on a rolling basis. This is especially true of schools in the Pa/NJ/NY corridor, because of the devastated financial services industry. This is because THERE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT FULL PAYS TO MEET THE DEMAND FOR THEM. So you should definitely not loose hope about the schools that you are waitlisted at. As for Gray’s comments, why would Hotchkiss even have a waitlist if “there is no likelihood of coming off it?”

I dont know, security, I said it is a long shot especially for me. I talked to the people there this week on the phone and as I said this is what they told me.

Last year like 5 something kids got off it but there is a good amount of kids on the list.

I still believe that there is a chance that the schools made a bad calculation and the Fp’s will come rushing in off the waitlist.

You just cant know…

I know you have to do your planning, but you will not know for sure until the day that students arrive on campus. I am a FP parent who has a very high income, and I can tell you that the $43,000 bill for tuition room and board alone is an ABSOLUTE EYE POPPER!

My parents are wondering if it is worth sending me to BS, does anyone know what I can say to this? Besides that I’d love to go because of the opportunities and all, I sort of agree with them as it is a big investment…

think about how great it would be to meet people from all over the world. it opens up your eyes to what’s out there, what you haven’t seen, and all that you could be.

@grayhotchkiss- i’m probably going to apply thacher, kent, andover, exeter, choate, and possibly 3-5 more… and i have no safeties b/c i’m not full pay. honestly, i think next year will be the same as this year b/c of the economy. so it’s a long shot for me, but i might as well try

Thanks, muffinqueen I actually found three sites that I can show my parents to hopefully convince them as well…

So many schools?! That’s a * lot * of schools!!

yep, but it’s just my initial list. i’ll probably thin it down. but i’m just gonna make a big long list for now.

I see, I see :)

Understand that waitlist spots are a little harder… but trying again the next year at a school where you were previously waitlisted really helps. I was waitlisted at Middlesex my first year, and I was accepted this year. A lot of my friends have similar situations.

And waitlisting from what I know, depends on what the school needs. For example, if you are an 11th grade male, just because a 9th grade female rejected the school’s offer doesn’t mean you’ll get in. Also, it comes down to your interests. If you are a hockey player, and alot of the accepted hockey players rejected the school’s offer of admission, you have a better chance.

yea i agree with what andoverwarrior6 said about getting off the waitlist.
personally, my experiences weren’t as great though.
i was waitlisted at hotchkiss last year, and i was waitlisted at that school again this year.
but then again, have your hop

We just got accepted off the waitlist at Choate. Have a few hours to choose…

Wow, thats quick.
Congrats.

It is tearing our family apart!

Great! Congratulations!

I need some info about Choate, pronto! We did not spend a revisit there. Where do I go for info?

Congrats pan1956! I figure your child is incoming 9th grader? We declined Choate this morning, but it was such a tough last minute split decision (and I mean it). It is a great school! We went to the revisit and absolutely loved it - beautiful campus, great facilities, devouted faculty members and administrators, friendly and happy students… but my son has his mind set on another school (and he couldn’t name one thing negative about Choate). Go for it. you can’t go wrong!
