Waive freshman writing requirement?

My D received English AP credit entitling her to waive Freshman Writing (ENGL1111). She likes writing and intends to write as part of her career plans (music/entertainment industry). She was wondering if the course was worth taking even though she could waive it. Any opinions on the course? Thanks.

I also waived the required writing course with AP credit. When I took the other required writing course (all students have to take it their middler/junior year, or when they have enough credits), it was a complete waste of my time. Based on that, I’d say to definitely skip it.

I APed out of the intro writing class as well. Yet I took the Honors Middle writing requirement, and it was super hard work. A pain (like any hard class) but a satisfying class. I think it really depends on your professor.

If she wants to do writing, then AP out and then take other writing courses in elective subjects. Don’t waste time with the generic class that covers boring stuff and easy subjects, with professors stuck teaching freshmen.
