Wake Forest Admissions Regular Decision Fall 2022

Did it maybe go to spam in email?

Congratulations to all who got in. WFU is a wonderful school and getting accepted is quite an accomplishment! To all of my fellow North Carolinians who did not get in, please remember it is well known that if you are applying regular decision and they think you fit the UNC Chapel Hill profile, sadly there is a very good chance that you are not going to be admitted in the regular decision cycle as they only admit a few of those students knowing that those students tend to choose UNC. I mean unless you just have a ton of money, most folks are not going to pay $62K/year tuition for Wake when they can pay $8K/year tuition for UNC. My son loved Wake and knew that applying regular decision would be a mark against him. I am disappointed for him that he was waitlisted, but good news is he was accepted early action to UNC with early assurance to his major school… and he will be able to pay for his entire undergrad degree, grad school, and maybe even have some left for a down payment on his first home… all for the cost of one undergrad degree from WFU. For anyone reading this in the future, if you live in NC and know for certain WFU is where you want to be, you really need to apply ED as they know then you will not be choosing Carolina over them. Good luck to wherever you end up. This mom is just glad the college decision process has come to a close as my son is not interested in the waitlist.

Rejected and not particularly surprised. 33 ACT 4.3 weighted gpa. Drama kid with several state level acting awards. IBDP student. She pretty much doesn’t care because she got into honors early action at UGA (tuition will be virtually free there) and a couple of other flagship state universities. Also got a huge scholarship at Furman. Meh… With her offers so far there was no way we would pay out a $320,000 for Wake… it’s just not worth it with the other offers she has. She is irritated that she wrote all those essays and made a video for nothing though. :woman_facepalming::joy:

@miller1999 – my daughter is in the same boat – EA to UGA (not honors, though) and big scholarship at Furman.

She did get into Wake, but she prefers Furman and it’ll be much cheaper, so…but yes, she was lamenting about all the Wake lists and essays that she stressed over, lol. So many. She’ll decline soon, and I hope someone here gets off the waitlist!

Rice is also on the table – most expensive of the bunch so far, but might be worth it for her, and we’re still waiting on Emory.

My daughter was accepted to Wake Forest - she’s so excited! She was rejected from our state university which we really didn’t understand.

How can we get off the waitlist?? I’ve pretty much done everything possible- communicated with AO, visited campus twice (self guided once and real tour second), applied ED, attended info session, sent LOCI. I really don’t know how else I can show I want to go to wake!!!

I got into Wake Forest–I can’t believe it. I was deferred and then rejected from Notre Dame, deferred and then waitlisted at Boston College and Villanova, my school hasn’t gotten anyone in to Wake for the last 2 years, and I didn’t do the interview or video.

Daughter waitlisted. Surprised as would’ve expected rejection

Still no update on my end.

Congratulations to your daughter!! Yes if I’ve learned anything throughout this process, it’s that none of it really makes sense. The college acceptance process has truly become like rolling the dice and just hoping for the best…At the end of the day it’s the admissions officer in that office who either likes or doesn’t like the essay or extracurriculars or top 10 list or whatever they deem to be important for their particular process. I’m not sure they fully understand the impact that unpredictable and inconsistent decisions have on these kids who have worked so hard to get to this point. Hopefully all these kids end up exactly where they are meant to be and have amazing college experiences. They all deserve it! Good luck to your daughter!

We were told by a mother of a student who was waitlisted that WFU RD applications were up 19% this year.

One of mine is at Furman, and absolutely loves it. Know it is a wonderful option!

My son too ~ National Merit Finalist, 35 ACT 4.6 GPA W ~ 5’s on AP’s ~ Teen Leadership board for a not for profit for years etc, etc… Makes ZERO sense reading about someone with a 30 ACT and under GPA accepted. This was a safety school for him ~ YIKES! Thankful that he has already been accepted into his second choice and waiting on third
