geez. I actually just read the whole letter and It was actually a waitlist not a rejection. I hope you had better news. passing on the waitlist

Accepted!!! So happy!!
98.2 W GPA/ 1520 SAT (800 m)/ 11 APs
Decent ECS, essays, LORs
NM Commended Scholar
I had a really good interview w Wake back in November, thinking that helped. Also had been getting periodic texts from Wake student admissions ambassador, got text this morning about decisions coming out

Now just choosing between Wake and Michigan!! Really not sure…

I hope your son gets really good choices to choose from! If you’re speaking of my 30 ACT & under GPA (if you’re not, sorry!), my school doesn’t offer many APs so I had the highest GPA I could get. My test score is within the 50%, but I don’t think it added anything to my application. I definitely think my hook + essays + LORs + spike w/ english were my strongest part of the application.

Best of luck!

What is your hook?

I have a severely disabled brother that I’ve been a PCA for since I was 12—my essays for every college were about that or talking about my english-oriented ECs. hope this helps!

Awwwww, thank you for letting me know. My D still hasn’t looked. :woman_facepalming:t2: She’s got a big event happening today and said she can’t add this to her plate right now. I completely understand, although it is KILLING me. She’ll look tonight when she is home, but I am hoping (again) that the “required form” is at least a waitlist and not a rejection! We could deal with that. She was waitlisted at UNC Chapel Hill as well, and even though she was a little bummed, she took that in stride and said, “Well, it’s not a rejection!” so hoping that this will be the same. I’ll keep you posted, and thanks so much again for taking the time to respond to me!

Can you explain what a “spike w/english” is? Just curious- I have heard the term “spike” but don’t really know what it means. Thank you!

Did scholarship info come out with acceptances? or does it come later? We didn’t get anything so just wondering

you earned your spot- there is no need for you to defend it.
Congrats!

sure! basically, all my ECs, LORs, essays, honors/awards had something to do with english. I founded my school’s literary magazine, had my favorite english teacher write an LOR, had my writing published in national magazines, etc. I also took the hardest english courses my school offered, and reinforced how much I loved my brother + english through my essays. college admissions is a bit formulaic, but I tried to add has much heart into my application, anyway  hope this helps!

My daughter applied but we can’t see any place where it has her acceptance or rejection. Where on the portal is this? She did not receive an email either…it shows all green check marks but nothing else. Can anyone help? We have emailed WFU and will call tomorrow.

Should be a Status Update button on portal.

When do merit scholarship decisions get released?

We were ED last year and heard on March 29th I believe. The merit aid is very limited.

Deferred to Waitlist pipeline this year go BRRRRRRRRRRR :smiling_face_with_tear:

Waitlisted after ED deferral at Wake…. plus waitlist after deferral at Richmond and another waitlist at Bucknell. Class of ‘26 really got the shaft with this year’s admission cycle. But congrats to those who got good news!

Are merit scholarships released with financial aid?
