WAKE FOREST CHANCES??

Hi I’m currently a HS junior and I’m applying ED to Wake. I love the school and want to know my chances of getting in. My HS is known for its rigorous school systems (one of the top in the state)…my GPA isn’t that great so I’m a little worried. Also my school doesn’t rank.

GPA: 4.15 (3.4 UW)
SAT: 2130 (M 770, CR 660, W 700)
NHS, Honor Roll

I have always taken the highest level classes available except for college physics (junior year) and college english (senior year)…APs: US History, Calc BC, Government, Spanish, and maybe computer science

ECs:
–3 seasons of sports all 4 years (varsity all 4 years and captain of skiing)
–SADD (member all 4 years, officer 10th-12th)
–Yearbook editor, 12th
–Student Council Rep, 9th and 10th
–Math tutor (10th-12th grades)
–Peer mentor to freshman (11th and 12th)
–Worked as a ski instructor

I also have a lot of community service (volunteer coaching, traveling to 3rd world countries, leading church retreats)–total is probably around 200+ hours. Also, I plan on studying math/education.

Wake Forest doesn’t require standardized test scores but I think yours is ok. You need to decide wether you want to send it in or not. The big thing is Wake Forest has a lot of supplement questions/essays so make sure to be yourself and convey your interests and passions in your essays and short responses.

I think I’m going to send it in because it’s above their average and hopefully it’ll help balance out my GPA

^^ Good idea!

Make sure you show your interest in Wake Forest (…to Wake Forest) to dispel any possibility of a “Tufts Syndrome” deferral or rejection.

@prezbucky Thanks for the feedback! However, I don’t think “Tufts Syndrome” will be my issue. I’m more worried about not being qualified enough as opposed to overly qualified

I misread your SAT - sorry about that! 2130 is still quite good!

Your unweighted GPA is not great, but you have taken basically the hardest course load at your school. That will impress them.

If you write good essays and send in good recommendations, I like your chances. Good luck!
