I got accepted to Wake Forest off waitlist. However, I haven't been able to make a decision between Wake and the school I already deposited for.

Anyways to make this simple:
- What's the quality/availability of Wake undergraduate research opportunities?
- I've heard good things about the business program, but what about the biology/computer science major? Neuroscience minor?
- Same thing, I've heard that Wake has good connections for business but what about bio/compsci/neuro?

Some misc. questions:
- What is the "Interdisciplinary Major" on their website (it just redirects me to a "not found" page)?
- How are the dorms and food?
- I've been an A/B student throughout high school, will this stay the same at Wake? I'm particularly concerned about Wake's infamous grade deflation.

And I think that's it. Thanks in advance for any replies!

What did you decide?

Nothing yet :\ I have until tomorrow morning…

Hi @Fleuret:

It is a little hard to compare Wake to another school since we do not know what that school is, but I’ll do my best to answer your listed questions.

From what I can tell, there are numerous undergraduate research opportunities, especially for the sciences. I am a business major so I can’t really go in depth, but many of my friends are involved in summer research programs through Wake.

The food here COMPARABLY is great. Is it a culinary masterpiece? No. But it is edible and there are lots of options, including for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free students. There are going to be more on-campus food places next year than there are now (including another dining hall) but I have never really had an issue with the food, and I am a very picky eater. The dorms are alright; no better or worse than most other college dorms. I’ve seen campuses with awful dorms and with great dorms - Wake is neither. They are, however, building new dorms right now, and those should be really nice.

How your grades will fare depends on how hard you work! Also, being an A/B student at a competitive high school (I’m sure you were) is different than at a non-competitive high school. Generally speaking, if you put in the study time, you will be fine here. I was an A/B student in high school and I am an A/B student at Wake.

I wish you luck with your decision!

@fleuret- can you tell me where you are from and some stats? I am also on wait list and hoping to get off too!

Pinkcupcake: thanks a lot for your answer! Your advice was very helpful and I did end up accepting :)

Frogshollow: I’m from NJ, I submitted SAT/ACT (2030 and 32 respectively), my grades were for the most part A/Bs in a lot of AP/honors classes. I did actually send them a letter after I was put on the waitlist expressing my interest and such, so if you haven’t done that yet I would advise you to send one!

Congrats, Fleuret! I’m sure you will love Wake, I did when I visited. Have you visited?

Thanks pinkcupcake and Frogshollow! Yes I did visit and I loved it as well although it wasn’t my first choice I am definitely excited to be going!
