Wake Forest or University of Maryland for Pre-med?

So i'm wondering which of these two schools are better for pre-med studies? Will Maryland be easier than Wake Forest to maintain a high GPA?

Maryland matriculants are generally only very slightly of a lower caliber than Wake Forest matriculants, so you may run into more competitive students at Wake Forest. IMO, neither school will be easier or harder than the other, they are both great schools. Something this really can’t be judged or determined. Choose the field that sparks your interests the most, as this field will typically be the easier field to maintain a high GPA.

If you can go to UM without borrowing much, go there.

can you afford both schools?

If you can afford it, I would personally go to Wake Forest. However, it may be easier to keep a higher GPA at Maryland so consider that. Both are excellent schools. (Wake Forest has the nickname of Work Forest)

I know really smart, hard working kids who gave up on med school because of Wake’s grades. The teachers care a lot about teaching, but can be jerks about grading messing up kids who would have gotten higher GPAs at a state school. I’d go to Maryland.

Go to Maryland. Grade deflation at WF makes it harder for med school application. I know a neurosurgeon who had to transfer from WF because his GPA was getting hurt by the curve at WF.

If you’re instate for UM, go there.

Save your money for med school. I can never understand why anyone would spend a lot of money on undergrad when they have pricey med school to pay for. (unless the family is rich and can easily pay for pricey undergrad and med school)
