@sanangelo1 No but did you apply ED or RD?
ED
@sanangelo1 Ohhh RD hasn’t heard so people here probably wouldn’t know yet
@simona14 was deferred ED
I got an invitation to campus day in April a couple hours ago. I was deferred from ED1 into the regular decision pool and have not heard yet whether I’m accepted or not. Would love to know if getting the invitation to campus day means anything
@Paul7 @sanangelo1 I would think that is good news!!
has anyone who applied regular (not deferred ED) gotten this invite?
@simona14 I applied RD and have not gotten it
I applied ED1, got deferred, and also got the email, followed by a clarification email saying, “we hit send too soon”
same. applied ED1, was deferred, and got the emails
was there anyone who applied ED1 who didn’t get those emails?
For those who were invited for a campus visit, did you take part in a tour/campus visit before the invite?
We toured in October 2016; interviewed June 2018; applied ED1 and was deferred. We also received invite email and retraction.
sorry, toured October 2017 not 2016!
It appears that the inadvertent email went out only to those who applied ED, RD was not affected or so I’m told.
It was a mistake that occurred during an update to the system and was caught immediately.
I would not read anything into what is a truly unfortunate situation.
All accepted students get invited to Campus Days, regardless of whether they applied ED/RD. Whether you toured/interviewed prior to applying will not affect the invitation.
“Only” 3 weeks away from RD decisions. Wake is one of the last remaining non-Ivy to notify only by mail. Last year’s notification was a disaster with many students getting their acceptance letter until after 4/1. Several never received their letters and did not find out they were accepted until the called admissions. Let’s hope this yea’s notification is more organized.
I guess they have reasons for letting it go so late, but really, we’re already planning accepted student visits to multiple other schools, having FA discussions and moving forward with decision process. I know they certainly are not hurting for applicants or kids dying to go there, but the level of interest for WF for us decreases as each week passes and DD gets multiple follow-up emails and letters (and chocolates!!) from other schools, invitations to look at this or learn about that reason to attend X school and does her followup research. We have trips planned, she is attending coffee chats with reps, joining groups with other admitted students, digging in to the housing picture etc etc. Seems a little silly to me. But hey I guess ED is for those who are certain they want WF.
When are Campus Days 2019? Thanks!
A lot of schools don’t notify until late March so Wake isn’t the only school that notifies that late but they still do use snail mail which is unfortunate for those waiting. My DS got his acceptance on March 27th and we live in California, we still had time to plan a visit and he is now happily attending Wake. Around that same time he was still getting decisions from other schools so they weren’t the last. I know this drags on and seems endless especially when you have decisions for others and just want to be done, hang in there everyone!!
I think Wake is playing pretty smart… It is not trying to gather a big application pool just so that it’s rank goes up, it provide a bit delayed ED1 deadline (15Nov). I think they are looking for people who are really interested in Wake and confident. D found working with them calming and rational.
