Wake & The North

Hey, I am from New Jersey and I'm thinking about going to Wake Forest next year as a business major. I know Wake Forest is a top 30 school but I was wondering if it really has a name in the north (very few of my friends/family have heard of it). I was also wondering how Wake would help me with job placement if I want to work in NY after graduation. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I am from New Jersey too. The people who matter (people hiring you, recruiters, etc.) will know how prestigious a Calloway Degree is.

Kale, do your friends and family live in dead zones without TV, radio, or Internet?

gadad, NJ has many dead zones, I assure you. However, they have nothing to do with TV, radio, or Internet, they are more of the “mental” type. :)

I’m from NJ, too!

A lot of my friends at school hadn’t heard of Wake, so I was actually in the same position that you were – I was so freaked out that I’d apply for a job up north and all of the potential employers would think I didn’t go to a good school.

However, all of the boys I know who follow sports and all of my parents & their friends had heard of it. When I told my dad’s work friends, they were really impressed by it.

I’m pretty sure that most people in the professional world have heard of it. Obviously “Wake” isn’t as universal of a name as “Harvard” and “Yale”, but most people would recognize that it is a great school academically.
