Walk Ins and Video Auditions

Hey there!

So quick summary of my situation (while trying to keep it anonymous for respect of my past school,) but I was at an amazing BFA MT program last year, sadly got very sick from circumstances caused by the school’s buildings, met with my professors and after several tear-filled conversations, both parties decided it would be best if I transfer to another school since the location of my school would only decrease my health further. So this past fall and winter I’ve been trying to get healthy again while applying to schools, which as you all know, is extremely taxing. Sadly I’ve missed several deadlines and at this point I just wanna be back in a BFA MT program so I can finish my degree.

Does anyone know or have a hunch about which school’s will have walk-ins at the Chicago unifieds? And if you know of any programs that are still accepting applications and their prescreen deadline has not arrived yet please let me know! Also, if any schools accept video auditions as well, please let me know!

Desperate to be back in the craziness of a program! Thank you!!!

I don’t know who will be at Chicago walk-ins, @phantomlover -but due to my D’s rough start Senior year (also allergies) I truly empathize. My suggestion would be to be ready with checkbook, headshots, resumes, prerecorded music, letters of rec, transcripts (or, easy computer access to any/all) and hit the ground running each morning. Don’t settle-know what you want-conservatory, small, medium, large university, regional considerations: But within those parameters, keep an open mind and go for it. Break a Leg! Can’t wait to hear where you land!

Thank you @owensfolks !

Here are some of the schools that have held walk-in auditions in the past in Chicago:

UAB
Viterbo
Utah
Western Michigan
Ball State
Cornish
Coastal Carolina
Drake
LIPA
Royal Welsh Academy
Ohio Northern
Oklahoma (Acting)
SCAD
CAP21/Molloy
NYCDA
Long Island U.
Northern Colorado

This will vary year-to-year.

Here is a thread with info about schools with late audition dates in previous years:

Thank you @EmsDad !

U Arts and Webster had walk ins last year. So did TCU

(all in NYC but think the policies are the same at all unifieds for them)
Webster you had to pay and apply right there. They had a computer to use.

I think NYC had more walk-ins than normal last year because of the blizzard. Lots of missed appointments.

@CTDramaMom that could be. Webster was actually running behind and pearl studios were slammed when we were there. But I’m
Sure the weather did cause some cancellations.

Hey there! I’m auditioning at the Chicago Unifieds as well, but I actually just yesterday scheduled an audition slot for Dean College. I’m not sure it’s the type of program you want, but they had plenty of audition slots open still. Even if the school’s a maybe for you, it may be worth scheduling it just so you know you at least have one audition taken care of! I believe the school itself has rolling admissions as well.

Also (just thought of this) it may be worth calling a few schools departments to see if they have any audition slots open for Unifieds if it’s not advertised one way or another on their website. I did that just to make sure for some schools that would’ve been on-campus auditions otherwise. As long as the school itself didn’t have the application deadline pass or anything, I would say that would be worth a shot too! There are actually a decent amount of programs that haven’t reached admission deadlines yet.

Sorry again, things keep popping into my head after I post the comments hahaha. But I do believe The Hartt School accepts video auditions, though I think their deadline is by mid-February

Arcadia University in Greater Philadelphia has been going to Unifieds for a few years now. They will be back again this year and have opportunities for walk-ins as well as pre-resgitering for a time. Here is the link to sign-ups: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4dafab23a3ff2-spring. They have rolling admissions throughout the Spring.
