walking distance

What is within walking distance of campus if you want to get away to clear your head for a bit?

Do many students have cars?

I know lots of students with cars, and I consider mine a necessity (I'm a city girl at heart, and I like to go to Charlotte much more than most of my classmates), but if you don't have one, it's never a problem. At night, Davidson has a shuttle, there are county buses that go from Davidson to Charlotte, and best of all, you will always find a friend or a friend-of-a-friend who has a car, so there's always a way to get a ride anywhere you need to go.

There's a beautiful neighborhood in one direction through which you can walk. There's also a park off Griffith Street. There's Summit Coffee, CVS, Ben & Jerry's, Harris Teeter, a shopping center with an organic/health food restaurant, several churches, a shopping center with a chocolate shop, Great Clips, and outside of Davidson (but still within walking distance--meaning under three miles) is Fuel pizza, Bonzai Thai food, two or three Greek restaurants, Carolina Cones -- lots of restaurants within walking distance. Cornelius is the town right next to Davidson, and there's some stuff there.

Most of the big conveniences are going to require a car (Target, B&N, Staples, etc.), but only 3-5 exits away, by I77.
