walnut hill or Interlochen?

My daughter has been accepted by both walnut hill and Interlochen.
She will major in piano.
We are having difficult time to make decision.
Any suggestion?

Interlochen. It’s cheaper and in my opinion more prestigious.

My sister went to Interlochen.
Of the arts boarding schools, it has the strongest academics. It has had 35 presidential scholars, more than all of the top boarding schools (HADES).
Although its dorm rooms aren’t the best, it has pretty good food and outstanding teachers.
It’s the most prestigious arts boarding school for music at least I think. They don’t have good add/adhd support though.

Anyways, if you have more specific questions, you could probably ask me.

It’s actually 39 Presidential Scholars, and yes, unmatched by any other top boarding schools. Interlochen also has the most amazing facilities, more students, and the academics are really good as well. I’m actually going to Interlochen in the fall :)

I’d take Interlochen any day personally.

My DD is currently a senior vocal performance major at Walnut Hill…

The experience could not have been better! Lots of her friends have been accepted into Harvard, Princeton, Juilliard, MSM, Mannes…list goes on…It is a smaller program than Interlochen but definately well known by the important schools on the East Coast…They don’t offer AP classes like Interlochen…but from acceptances as to where kids go on to college must be okay…DD creative writing teacher used to teach at Harvard and she loves the class…

She has also loved being 1/2 hour (by train) from Boston…Goes in every weekend for Choir at New England Conservatory. She’ll go in early and stay late…absorbs all of the culture she can…really loves the independent movie theater in Harvard square :)

Faculty are very supportive …

I don’t believe you can go wrong with either program…DD auditioned and was accepted at both Interlochen and Walnut Hill school…She has 2 past Interlochen kids in her vocal program this year and they say they like it better at WHS…all depends on what you are looking for.
