Well, I searched around on this forum and did find a few threads that mentioned Walnut Hill. I know that it is a great arts school, no need to convince me on that, but I am more interested in the statistics and how strong the applicants are.

Does anyone happen to know the acceptance rate? I did not find a profile for this school on Boarding School Review. Are the students young musicians who win international competitions and play with other famous musicians and perform at the Carnegie Hall? How prestigious is this school? I have no confidence if the applicants are already semi-pro. Even as I am passionate about my instrument, I am not a prodigy...

Hi there!

I am currently a music student at Walnut Hill and I can tell you that this year, we have had students winning the NEC concerto competitions, BSO Concerto competition, some of us have had masterclasses with singers that are performing at the MET, Joshua Bell, Kavakos, Perlman, Ellen Callus, and we have one student that won a competition and is performing in Carnegie in the Fall. Niu Niu Zhang graduated this year and George Li last year and both of them are prodigies. HOWEVER - the important thing is that, you don’t need to be a prodigy to get into the school. Walnut Hill is interested in your potential.

The school gives you the tools to become a pro. It doesn’t matter when you first arrive at the school whether you are not pro, semi-pro or pro. The goal of the school is to give you the opportunity to become a pro. If you are passionate about your instrument, that’s all that matters tbh. Give it a try and apply!

Message me (please) if you want to know more!
