i am an international student who want to major in law in the states. i have been browsing the web and disappointed by the cost. is it possible to find a law school(better prominent) which charges below 30000 us dollars per year? are they all offering 4 year courses? any three year courses available?

you need to learn more about our college systems. First there is 4 years (well usually 4, can be more or less) in which you obtain a bachelors degree. After that, if your interested in law, you apply to law schools with transcripts, and lsat score, your register with with i forgot what it was called, but its a service that compiles all of your information to give to law schools. If you have a good gpa or lsat, maybe lots of need, you will get some form of scholarships.

Now for undergraduate schools which it seems like you would have to go to first, i dont know any cheap ones, unless it is in state, but obviously you are international, so that doesnt apply. Apply to canada if you like, there schools are extremely cheap compared to ours

if youre planning on practicing law in your home country, i would highly suggest going to graduate school in your own country where the curriculum is based on your own countries laws and policies.

if you purely just want a law degree, a law degree in the uk is a bachelors i believe

if i want to apply law in my home country, is it necessarily useless if i study law in the US? Any prospectives if i want to go back my home country afterwards?

ps: i will definitely take SAT 1 and 2s.

if you are going to get a degree in the US, you get a degree here and you can go off to another country where there are American firms and work there, but i believe it would be best to practice law in the country you want to reside. Our system i believe would be closest to the Enlgish system of learning law, but the differences are still so great that you should study here stay here or study somewhere else. You would need SAT's to get into undegraduate school which is approximately a 4 yr process before you can even go to law school

Christine C, where are you from? I'm planning to study law in the U.S as well, but I'm starting out at a community college with low fees (California), then 2 years undergrad at UC and then to law school :)

i am from China, but i have been studing in Singapore for more than 3 yrs. Now i think i would like to drop the idea of studying law as it is post-graduate. i will focus on looking 4 another major~~

well its not post grad if you study in englad

you can also get a bachelor's in law somewhere else besides the US (perhaps your home country or the UK) and then get a LLM at a law school in the US afterwards. the LLM is a 1-year degree for those who already have law training elsewhere.

getting a masters in law is pointless since she i believe she wants to study here and go back. China has some great universities. Although if you wanted to work for an american firm in china, kfc4u's idea is great
