Want somebody to bet for RD?

Well.. this is a chance thread. I would like HONEST evaluations from you.

dual citizen: korea/us
so here's my stats: (does Rice superscore SAT?)
SATI
superscore: 2160 (670 Verb, 800 Math, 690 wr (essay 11))
one sitting: 2040 (-^-) :-(
TOEFL: 105
SAT II: Chem 700 Bio M: 790 Math IIC: 780
extracurriculars: above average
rec: one stellar/ one good
counselor rec: amazing.

could you please chance me? even if i really want to go there by RD, I am really worried. but please.. I want honest evaluations.

Rice does superscore SAT, so you're in luck.
Your SAT I's aren't bad, and your SAT II's are really good.

I had a lower SAT score than your superscore and about the same on the SAT II's (except only mathII and physics) and got in ED.

I think what you need to do is work on your essay. One Rice counselor told me that the essay (the common app essay, supplement essay, and the box) are given a LOT of weight in your decision. So write a really good essay, engage the reader, make it interesting, and make sure it shows who you are.

The other thing you can do to really improve chances is to show interest in Rice. Visitting campus and having an interview are two big pluses. Info sessions are good, too.

I think overall, if you can write really good essays, you have a really good shot (assuming your rank/GPA are as good as the rest of your app). Just keep in mind that Rice is really selective and a lot of qualified people will be applying; so it's up to you to stand out in terms of personality, what you can bring to the school, and how badly you want to attend (just don't suck up).

Good luck!

Sounds like a decent chance, but as always, make sure you have multiple applications out to schools that you can (learn to) love. My question would be your English preparation since your internet TOEFL score is modestly above scores to place out of ESL English classes. My honest suggestion would be to take the most advanced critical reading class with challenging literature you can this spring or summer. The reading load will be much higher with more difficult text next year whether Rice, Swat or a similar school.
