I honestly feel like crap right now. I'm currently in Junior Year, and my overall GPA is 2.97. My freshman year screwed me over beyond belief(2.63), but my sophmore year was better(3.31). I'm trying to get atleast a 3.6 for Junior year. I live in NJ, and want to apply to Rutgers(Piscastaway).

MY SAT's

MAth 580
Reading: 620
Writing: 690

I have no Sports, but am joining lacrosse JV this year. I do have community hours.

I have heard that Rutgers is getting very hard to get into now, and it's no longer a safety school. Do I even have a hope of getting in? I want straight answers, don't pity me.

Beg the club leaders to get into clubs in your school
Try to get an overall 3.3 GPA
Your SAT's are ok, try to take it again and bring up your math scores.

I know tons of people in my school having rutgers as a safety school. This practice is probably normal to many other schools as well... So. I dunno, I hope i get into rutgers..

And why are so many people not from NJ choosing rutgers? Is it really that good?

Also, why are the acceptance rates for Camden and Newwark lower then that of New brunswick? Also, this report is from 2006, is there a udated one out?

i actually got in to rutgers already- new brunswick and when i asked if they wanted recs- they specifically told me that they don't require them and not to send any- so i agree with metalmoses.

also, camden and newark acceptances are lower because not too many people apply to rutgers there- the nb campus is the most popular one because the neighborhood is better.

i don't know if its harder to get in now or if its no longer a safety school- a ton of people coming from schools in nj still think of it as a safety but i think that they're getting more applicants because rutgers has moved up in rankings.

i think you'll have a good shot of getting in- all you have to do is improve your sats a little- since your gpas tougher to improve and try to get more leadership positions in your clubs if you can.

also, don't apply to the pharm or nursing or anything like that programs because they're harder to get in to. and apply as early as you can since they're rolling- i found out about my acceptance in october but people who applied later on are still waiting.

It also depends on your school type. I go to a ... top?(i feel snobby for saying that...) private school in state and even those with low gpa's and/or test scores usually have no trouble getting into Rutgers.

Oh... I also hear that acceptance rates are better for north and central jersey kids as oppose to south... but it might be one of those things that north jersey kids like to say to make us feel good.

Last thing: Rutgers isn't a safety anymore for a lot of kids. Due to the athletic programs' success ... and the dropping of those olympic programs... there are a lot more applicants

I'm an active Rutgers alum...1200 SAT(Verbal/Math) for in-state is right on the money. Rank is more important than GPA (unless the very poor GPA is due to poor English. If you got a C in an AP course, it would be overlooked). Can you get into top 20% ranking? If so, you're ok. Due to athletic improvement more students who were admitted last year actually sent in deposits (this is known as "yield"). Since the "yield" is expected to stay higher there may be a slight decrease in acceptances.

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

I am thinking of being a pharmacist, and want to go to a school that specializes in it. Are these two good? or are there better ones that I could go to(don't bother suggesting really competitive ones.... I probally wont make it).
