Hey Mario,

Someone might have asked you this already, but do you know the exact process in which our apps are read? I am still a bit confused. Thanks!
Hi, I'm not sure how specific I can be. Your application is read by one member of the admissions committee, often a teacher or administrator full-time. The average time given to an application is between 5 and 8 minutes. So this representative reads all materials before making a decision.

Applying to FFL (I'm fluent in Spanish, in AP Chinese and taking German)

No class rank, but have around an A- average, and straight A's the first quarter of this year

Thank you so much mario!!!

Hey Mario,

Good luck on your exams!!!

I am applying RD to NHS for global health. First, does GT superscore the ACT??? I have a 32 from Oct and a 31 from last June. Breakdown is 35 M, 34 E, 33R and 27S for a composite of 32. In the spring I had a 29 in Science and that gives me a superscore of 33. I have a 740 Math 1 and am waiting on my Math II and Literature scores. Expect to be around the 700s based on practice.

I also lived in an orphanage this summer and volunteered in a medical clinic in Ghana this summer that really developed my interest in Global Health issues.

I am a fourth year Chinese language student (I am white Irish Catholic girl)-I wish to continue with Chinese as a minor though it has kept my GPA at at 3.5 because it is so difficult. My school is private with 125 graduates (23 who are national merit finalists) HIGHLY competitive!!!

Mario, what are my chances of admission? Thanks so much!
No problem! And thanks for the well wishes, exams are going ok. Nope, no superscores. But can you tell me your class rank? Broadly, I can tell you based on your ACTs with a top 5% rank you are in the 33% chance range.
Hey Mario, can you please let us know if/when you find out when they will be mailing letters out? Thanks!

Hi, well I know Friday, but I will be in office tomorrow and of course I will see if some go out then and let you know!

tons of EC and volunteer hours if that'll help.

Hey, do you have a class rank? I know you're COL but this info would also help. 150/680 is the general range I can give if you are in the top 5%. Your odds go down a little bit to around 12% if you have no class rank given. Good luck!

Hey Mario, you're our hero thanks for doing this.

EA College

SAT: 1510 CR: 760 Math: 750

Thanks so much again, especially since I can only imagine how annoying this must get for all these pages.
No problem, it's not annoying, it's great to help out if I can. Are you liberal arts or science major or undeclared? Looks like a 700/260 range with liberal arts, but your odds go up to 50% if you're a science applicant.

Hey Mario. Before I give you my stats, I just want to say thanks for taking time out of your day to provide me, and everyone else, with your insight. I've already posted (not on this thread) in a chances thread, but here I'll just put more relevant information.

Male, Asain, NJ Public School
EA Collge

SAT I: 770 W 740 R 740 M
SAT II: Chem: 770 Bio: 730 US H: 690

Taken 4 AP's to date: Bio: 4 US H: 5 Gov: 5 CalcAB: 5

I am taking 4 ap's and one honors for my senior year course schedule.

Hey, no problem. Looks like your in the same general range as one of the above posters in that 700/262 range. Soft factors will help you stand out, like those extracirriculars. Remember, the way to think of it is that the range is just for people with your basic SATs and class rank. Beyond that, what gets you in are these intangibles, and I think you've got some of the better ones.
Hey Mario, you've chanced me on another occasion and told me that 21 had applied, 6 were accepted in my range, but I noticed that you put a lot of stress earlier on first gen. applicants, and being one myself, I wanted to know much that would affect my chances, thanks!

GPA: 3.86
SAT: 1450, 800CR, 650M
Rank: top 7%
School: SFS
Hi, I don't have a stats breakdown for that -- it's a soft factor that will help you stand out big time among those 21 though. Good luck!

What do you mean about the extracirriculars? You'd need to tell me gpa and/or class rank for a range though. Don't be nervous, no big deal.
