I am currently enrolled at Southern Illinois University college in Carbondale, IL. The school here is terrible and I really want to transfer. The school is ok but I find that I want to get the Big 10 experience and the more traditional college experience rather than not.

I am a 24 year old hispanic male. I am a high school dropout and have a GED. I now have 48 credits at SIU and a 3.098 GPA. I am studying Sociology and wish to continue my studies at IU. I have steadily brought my grades up since my 2nd semester at SIU where they declined (due to personal reasons).

What would I have to do to transfer to IU?

You will be fine. Sociology isn't a very competitve department at IU. If you have above a 3.0 you're typically admitted. I remember you saying you had an F on your transcript though, maybe it was someone else, but one low grade is cause for concern, I know the admissions committee likes to see A/B performance with a couple C's, and if you do that you will be admitted.

What about U of Colorado at Boulder? I have been looking at them as my other option. If I dont get into IU for the Fall 2006 semester than I will apply there and see what they say as well as IU for the spring semeters.
