Want to Transfer to Stony Brook Fall 2012

Hey, lets see who can help me out here. I am planning to transfer to SBU for spring 2012 semester. I was dismissed from my previous college because i withdrew from one of my classes due to family issues.. I am taking summer classes at stony brook so i can prove that i am ready and hopefully will achieve good grades. I was planning on attending Nassau CC for the fall semester and thn transfer to SBU. Can anyone tell me what i need to do in order to be a successful transfer?

And will iget financial aid from SBU or Nassau for the next semester and the Spring 2012 semester since the financial aid deadlines are occuring now?

Thanks

Given your situation, admission to SBU is going to be a huge reach because you will still have to include those transcripts. A dismissal will not usually happen because a student failed one class (unless they were already on probation or had marginal grades in which a F did not help their cause).

What you would need to do is put some distance between you and the first school. One term at a community college is not going to make you a successful candidate to transfer to SBU. You would be better served doing the 2 years or completing the requirements for an associates then transferring. Talk to the admissions people at Nassau and ask about any articulation agreements that they have with SBU (which would be the smoothest way to transition in to SBU)

Can you clarify how withdrawing from a class caused you to get dismissed?
