<p>My son is hoping for Colorado College, but is looking for safety schools. Interested in LACs, preferably within a 3 hour flight of Denver.</p>
<p>SATs are: 680 (R) / 620 (M) / 650 (W)
Weighted GPA: 3.8
Taken 2 APs as Junior, scored 4 on both. Taking 2 more APs as senior.</p>
<p>Possible interests are Economics, Poli-Sci, Philosiphy, Journalism, Pre-law.</p>
<p>Can you suggest any "safety" LACs?</p>

<p>Cornell College-- has one class at a time like Colorado. (Does United fly from Denver to Iowa City or Cedar Rapids?)</p>
<p>I think pundits would say add mot "fit" schools. If you get into one of those, you might think it's a safety when really you're just dealing with the odds.</p>
<p>Three-hour plane ride from Denver gets you just about to every part of the country, though limited to major cities since no time for plane changes.<br>
Lewis and Clark Macalester St. Olaf (fits?)</p>

<p>UC is on the list, because it is hopefully a "sure thing" and the price is right, but he doesn't really want large school. We were hoping to identify some other LACs that might be "safe bets", and geographically in the ball park. Seems like now he has a lot of reaches, and less "safe bets".</p>
<p>I also say you look at Cornell College (not the one in Ithaca, NY), since it has the One-Course-at-a-Time/Block Plan that CO College does.</p>
<p>Add Willamette U. (Salem, OR) and U. of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA)...both good schools, and definitely safeties/fits.</p>
<p>FWIW I'm applying to Colorado College, Whitman College (Walla Walla, WA), Willamette U., U. of Puget Sound, and Carleton College (thanks to Mom58 for the Carleton info earlier).</p>
