Oh, that was lovely! I have learned a new word for what I am- flaneur!
Nice story. I can relate.
I realize how lucky we were that no one where I live ever suggested we couldn’t or shouldn’t leave the house. We walked nearly every day at the beginning of the pandemic exploring all the corners of our neighborhood. We discovered hidden stairs, weird alleyways, strange decorations on buildings. We used to do a little dance when we met up with other people walking since no one knew what distance was safe, but we were quite sure that it was good for our soul as well as our health to be outside. We still walk more than we did in the before times.
