Was it a Bulldog Bloodbath?

I dont understand that line at all between rejected applicants and deferred. But there is no real line, since like 94% of the deferrees ultimately get rejected anyway. But many of those people go to top ten schools anyways. Weird.

rejected =(

SAT: 2230
SAT II: 750 (math IIC), 720 (Lit)
GPA: 94.7/100
APs: 5 (calc ab), 4 (us hist-self studied), 4 (eng lang); taking 3 aps currently
ECs: Managing editor of school paper, student gov, chorus section leader, community service

In short, yes it was a Bulldog Bloodbath but most were deferred instead of rejected. However, the rejected (and deferred, for that matter) stats were just as insane as the Stanford rejected stats.

Ok, Im officially becoming the lead singer of "The IV Rejects." Look out for us on Yale's campus in three or four years when we make it big.
(now i just need about 2-4 other Ivy League rejects)

-Intern for Senate Candidate, Boys State, many Music and Athletic Awards, Fantastic Essay

this thread is a good example of the concept that (as yale itself says) test scores and grades have only a limited influence on decisions. high scores obviously don't keep students out, but they also don't open the door for them. peak SAT scorers: do you really think that test accurately measures anything but your SAT-taking ability? i scored 2400 and 5x800 and i don't think it's because i'm any more intelligent than my friends with 2200s and 2300s

Rejected
34 ACT

Presidential Volunteerism Bronze Award, Girl Scout Gold Award, NHS, NMCommendable

...
I was Rejected- not even deferred and I know 2 people who were accepted simply because of parental influence. This is incredibly infuriating considering I know for a fact that I and many of you were wayyyyyyy more qualified. Not to mention the 2 ppl i know who got in do not go to my school, are not my sex, and are both lazzzyyyyy druggies/alchies- like majorly.

but i am from NYC so i guess thgat could have had an impact... considering collegiate is in ny and there were soo many ny applicants.

I really don't understand this. I expected to be deferred. Yale was my school. it was the only school i worked my behind off for the past four years and i am/was totally distraught. I deff know what those of you who were rejected are going through. For everyone who was accepted- congrats (are you robots? do you exist?) and for all who have been deferred- good luck in april.

looks like i will be changing my user name.

my cousin got deferred...she has straight A's, 5 Ap classes, top 5% of her class, attends a magnet school with all honor classes, is interning at the UN and here it the thing that is making me wonder......she is a great student but got 29 on ACT test

I read her essay...it was great

hook: escaped the war form Afghanistan and knows four languages....

and it involed in alot of community service and school activites...

"Denied with straight A's, 2340 SAT, 800's on Math 2, Literature, and US History. And I'm Mexican."

Nuff' said... WOW O.o

Expected at least a deferral, but I got rejected... 2320 SATs, 800 Bio, 720 Chem, 780 US, #1 in my class, interned for 3 summers at the Hillary Clinton campaign (Senate in 06 and President in 07 and 08), President of Student Council and the Political Science Club, good amount of community service, and (I thought) good/great essays.

It sucks to know that Yale saw me as being one of their worse applicants since I was in the bottom 40% who got rejected... :(

EDIT: Also I had an incredible interview, though I guess that's how a lot of them are

In the aftermath, it sort of sucks.
But don't lose hope guys!

Why not? The more I think about it the more Yale seemed perfect for me... :(

I guess all I can say to us rejectees is, it's time to move on. Yes, Yale seemed like the perfect fit for many of us (that's probably why we applied early!). But as I've said before, there are other schools out there waiting to hand us acceptance letters. It's one thing to say you're not going to be able to go to college altogether; it's another to say you got rejected from one of the most-difficult to get into schools in the country. It's a big deal to get rejected, but let's face it: 20 years from now, none of us are going to regret not getting into Yale. Besides, there's always grad school!
