I think the title of that article is an adaptation from a George W. Bush quote.....

wow. thats all i have to say.

Satire folks...................

Finally, South Carolina State University gets a much overdue Top 10 ranking (where it rightfully belongs alongside Penn State, Texas A&M, UC-SD and UC-Davis)

109 California Institute of Technology CA

oh man, isn't that the truth, CalTech is ranked 109, finally someone tells those damn CalTechies that their school SUCKS HARDCORE! Yeah oh and Richard Feynman ranks like 110 on that list! HA!

All sarcasm asside, I'm now convinced that US News is a decent if not the best possible college ranking for Undergraduate US Colleges.

" I'm now convinced that US News is a decent if not the best possible college ranking for Undergraduate US Colleges."

that probably has a lot to do with the fact that the usnews is usually presented as THE ranking, and it has been so for years. its human nature to accept what is familiar.

hmm...one problem, the website doesn't work

Granted US News has its flaws, but I cannot see Texas A&M ranked #5 and it drives me slowly insane.

“that probably has a lot to do with the fact that the usnews is usually presented as THE ranking, and it has been so for years. its human nature to accept what is familiar.”

-I agree with this for the most part. However, the problem for me is that most other rankings I see are so convoluted and outside the mainstream that it’s difficult for me to believe anything but that they are ridiculous. I mean, while their data may yield that Penn State is one of the top 5 schools in the country, will readers and/or applicants actually believe such a ranking?

Yea the website got destroyed LOL, can someone post the rankings?

I heard Yale is sending a team to Texas A&M to study what they are doing right!

If memory serves it was something like:

1) MIT
2) Texas A&M
3) Penn State
4) South Carolina State U.
5) UC SD
6) UC Davis
7) ITT Technical Institute
8) Taco Bell U. (El Pollo Loco Campus)
9) K. Federline Vocational School
10) U Got Punked U. (Pimp My Ride Campus)

yay MIT is numero uno. well deserved.

I like how a link is worded..."Report: Is Our Students Learning?"

Um, our students ARE learning...thus: "Are Our Students Learning?"
finding that error got me a little biased against it...:/

lol wow there goes any possible hope for credibility.

What a joke. Texas A&M - Kingsville is ranked higher than Caltech.

for those of you who missed it, here goes the top ten:

MIT

CAL

PENN STATE

UCLA

TEXAS A&M

UCSD

STANFORD

CORNELL

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE

UC DAVIS

(four of top ten from UC system, five from one state)

other notables:

ALABAMA A&M

HARVARD

PENN

BROWN

DARTMOUTH

COLUMBIA

CAL TECH

one can only guess that tech got slammed for too many of those scoreboard shenaningans?

you don't suppose alabama agricultural and mechanical will post on its website that it's ranked higher than harvard do you?

sorta reminds me that cal state bakersfield proudly reports its business faculty publish more than the faculties of both harvard and MIT. what is not stated is WHERE--like maybe the local newspaper compared to harvard business review?

Rank: 4 (WM) University of California, Los Angeles* CA 25 (USNWR)

^in my acceptance package, they inserted a copy of the Washington Monthly rankings.

The use of "Is" was obviously intentional to go with the cover. Get a grip.
