I posted my stats a few days ago, curious if you think I have a shot.
I was accepted RD so feel free to ask questions
Given the posts on the 2022 RD page, it’s going to be really competitive for 2023, whether ED or RD.

Class of 2022 accepted student here willing to give tips or help if needed. Accepted Regular Decision.
My only advice is that if you have a score within the range of the 2022 class profile ,or even if you are slightly below, you have a chance… Just don’t get caught up in having people chance you because the truth is nobody has a clue. The process is very much holistic. Work on your essays, show interest and don’t get too stressed out. Consider ED if you really love WashU .
There will some of you are surprised you got in and many surprised that you didn’t get in. Cast a wide net in your college list and try not to fall too much in love with one school.
With that said I hope you all are a part of the class of 2023

Does anyone have any idea about the amount of FA that WUSTL usually provides ?? I’m finding mixed answers on other threads.
I agree with @ParentFL
college admissions process day by day is becoming even more and more unpredictable. With the holistic review process test scores are not everything.
Prospective class of 2023 student.
@JemmaSimmons you have been so helpful with your posts, I was wondering do you have any thoughts on the first year programs such as Phage Hunters, are they valuable etc? Also what do you think your toughest class was for a frosh pre med? Many thanks for any advice!!
It looks like for the class of 2023, there’s now a supplemental essay to write in addition to the common app essay. Also, there is now ED 2. Interesting changes for the upcoming class. https://admissions.wustl.edu/apply_site/Pages/default-apply.aspx#first-year

I can answer the premed questions since the son just finished freshman year. Chemistry 111A (aka General Chemistry 1) will be the class that trips up most people. It has been described as baby quantum physics by one of the professors. The emphasis will be on atomic/orbital structure and the test averages will be relatively low. Chemistry 112B is more straightforward but for both classes be prepared to apply concepts instead of relying on rote memorization.
Biology 2960 could be taught better. It’s not a tricky class but the professor sometimes goes off on tangents. AP Biology will be your friend in this case. My son relied on his AP Biology to do well in the class.
Phage Hunters/Phage Informatics is pretty useful. There is an opportunity to do research and present at the WashU undergraduate symposium. A good introduction on how to do college research.
Biology majors are required to take math up to Calculus 3 or Statistics. Calculus 3 is pretty straightforward. I have heard that Statistics could be taught better just because the instructor’s native language is not English. And if you are placed into Calculus 3 start with that instead of Calculus 2.
What is the impact in our application if we have recommendation from Jesuit fathers?
So when will the changes be made to the common app pertaining to the writing supplement requirement?
@sunshinestateg Sorry for the late reply! Hamurtle pretty much covered it, though. I personally didn’t take one of the one credit bio classes but my understanding is that if you’re really interested in the material being taught then you should consider taking it. It’s a good intro to research. However, don’t feel that this is something you have to decide now; in Bio2960, they announce signups as available for the first week and take kids then (for 2961 and 2962).
I’m actually not a premed, I’m just a BME student, but I think the hardest class material wise is Gen Chem. That said, gen physics (197/198) is also not great for a lot of people because they don’t curve the class at all.
