<p>synth204: She’s played since fourth grade and plays in two “by audition” orchestras and an “Alternative Strings” group which plays Bluegrass, Celtic, Swing, etc. She’s not a virtuoso but she is a strong player who loves her instrument and the groups she’s in. She’ll be glad to know that she can be part of the orchestra without having to devote her resources to a major or a minor. She does want to continue with lessons.</p>
<p>I would agree that it leans towards theory and research over practice and industry. That said, my engineering friends are biased towards BME, CSE, and SSE, and are planning on med school, business, finance, law, or academic careers. </p>
<p>I really like the flexibility to explore classes outside of engineering, and the flexibility in double majoring or minoring outside of engineering.</p>
