I saw in the decisions thread that a lot of people got waitlisted, but I know that WashU often waitlists people that they think are "overqualified." That being said, I'm sure that many of those people got into other schools and won't want to be placed on the actual waitlist. So what do you think are the chances of actually getting in off the waitlist this year?

First off, please share how you know that wustl rejects overqualified applicants rather than qualified applicants who just don’t fit what washu is looking for. Secondly, the chances of being accepted off a waitlist are pretty small. Assume that being wait listed is the same as being rejected an act accordingly. If you are one of the few that does get offered a spot off the waitlist, then you consider that possibility.

Probability that its used and someone in particular is picked if it indeed is used is approximately 1-2%
