@CollegeHopes19 I saw it on the College Kickstart Blog. They said 3,000 applied and 1,080 admitted (36%). This would be the combined ED1 and ED2 admits.
@Waldo thanks for the info. I liked my number of 700+250 better ;-( Doesn’t make it right tho…
I don’t think that website is right it contracts information directly from washu about how many people were admitted in the two rounds
Last year the class size was around 1800. So, assuming that 1,080 is correct, admissions only needs 720 to enroll in regular decision. Last year 31,320 students applied, but since the essay has been added I would expect this number to drop by 5-10k apps, so maybe 25k students apply this year. Since WashU’s yield is 37% they only need to admit 1,945 students out of around 22k (accounting for ED apps), for an acceptance rate of 8.84% in rd. Combining ed and rd I bet the overall acceptance rate will be 12%.
Could be any day now for acceptances, since today is the last day of classes before spring break.
And actually classes start up 3/18. Most students won’t be returning until that weekend.
The WashU pattern for acceptances is pretty predictable. Announce around the second week, preferably when things are relatively quiet. ED1 2 weeks before finals. ED2 was second week of February during midterms. And it’s Spring break. I might check the portal around 5:00 Central Time or wait for an email. If it isn’t today, then look to next Thursday/Friday.
Decisions have been made for sure with scholarship finalists already being notified. It’s a matter of getting the admissions portal all loaded up and ready to go.
Does Washu let us know in advance like say a week or a few days when they upload decisions or are they just going to email us when decisions come out?
You will get an email stating that the there is a change in your admission status. Generally they are sent around 5:00-5:30 Central Time.
Per last year’s thread (I scanned it) they send counselors a notice of the day of that they will release it. Last year it was around 2:30 PST.
Expect the 15th so that you can be surprised if it comes out earlier.
Looks like next week then…
Is it true that they can start rolling out today?
@DesiVibez I have no basis for this but my guess would be that decisions won’t come out on a Sunday. My guess would be late this week though I’d love to be proven wrong!
Nope, WashU will not announce on a weekend and does not do rolling announcements. All at once. Thursday or Friday most likely but Wednesday is possible.
Anyone else keep refreshing their portal even though you know decisions aren’t gonna be out yet? :((((
You are not the only one my friend @vl6432kl
Possibly today r tomorrow, most likely Friday? oof.
Anytime now.
If not Thursday, for sure Friday before spring break ends for everybody.
I don’t know . . . unlike Ed1 and Ed2, the names have not yet disappeared off my interview list. Sorry!
fingers crossed
WashU usually releases decisions on Thursdays, so it’s most likely the 14th.
In the previous two years, both decisions came out in the afternoon on March 15. What about this year? By the way, there seems significantly fewer discusses in this thread this year.
