WashU vs. Kenyon vs. Middlebury

So, I'm applying to schools pretty soon. I would like to do ED, which means I have to have a pretty idea what my top choice is soon. Right now, I'm leaning towards WashU. I have a 4.15 currently, and am planning on finishing high school with a 4.28. I have a 31 on the ACT (32 if superscored). I'm planning on majoring in English and maybe Biochemistry. My question is whether I Middlebury, Kenyon, or WashU would be the best school for a double major like this. Thanks!

They’re all good schools, and I’m sure a double major at any will be fine. Obviously I’m a bit biased toward WashU, double majors are fairly common, and there aren’t that many general distribution requirements to needlessly complicate your schedule.

I do think it comes down to if you would prefer the environment of a LAC in a more rural setting or a research university near a larger city.

All all three schools are great schools, and I really can’t tell you which school would be better to do a double major at. I am also like Ryan, as I have an inherent bias, as my son is starting at WUSTL next week in 2 weeks. The main academic difference between WUSTL and Kenyon/Middlebury is that WUSTL will likely have more opportunities to get engaged in science research.

The key issue at this point is really going to be what sort of environment you want to be in. WUSTL is in a more urban setting, whereas the other two schools are in smaller towns.

Good luck on your search.
