WASHU VS USC [engineering major]

I'm trying to decide between washu and usc for engineering, specifically computer or electrical.

Any advice?

I’d have to say that I know zilch about USC (although if you mean University of South Carolina I have a friend who would, but i’m guessing you mean Southern Cali…). Anyway though, I can tell you that the Comp Sci department here at WashU is really good. The first year professor is great, and if you take the optional seminar class that corresponds to the intro to comp sci, you’ll really be able to tell pretty quickly if computer science is something you’re interested in. The course pretty much got me sold, anyway.

Comp Sci at WashU is actually really flexible too - it’s probably the easiest engineering degree to have as a second major, and there are a number of great professors. I’d have to check up on things, but I could probably list some of the different projects CSE groups (professors, students, student groups…) are working on at the moment, if that’d be the sort of thing you’re interested in.

I have posted a few thoughts about USC on these threads (older D there). Search and see - my posts are mainly about “feel” and “fit” rather than engineering.
