Is anyone a member of the water ski club? I understand the college owns a boat at Lake Norman. Is it very difficult to get a ride? What months is it warm enough to ski? Thanks!

I asked about this earlier but didn't get an overwhelming response. They still are listed in the conference for waterskiing. I compete in the summer barefooting, backwards, and the ski team was a big plus for considering Davidson next year.
I'll probably be visiting later this spring and will post if I find out any more information.

I am a junior and am starting to put together a list of schools to consider. I'm don't compete but I enjoy waterskiing/wakeboarding as a hobby. I'll look forward to your posting after your visit.

Can any Davidson students chime in on how often the lake campus is used by students?

I'm not a Davidson student, but I live about 10 minutes away from campus, so I guess that kind of qualifies. :)

The lake (Lake Norman) is quite popular, both with Davidson students and Charlotte/university area residents. Davidson requires at least one water sport course, so that gives you some idea of the emphasis. They offer all sorts of water related courses- SCUBA, sailing, skiing, etc. The campus is within walking distance of the lake (or a very short drive), so distance isn't a problem at all. The water doesn't get terribly cold, but it's particularly nice from about March/April to September/October.
