WCMCQ

What are my chances at wcmcq, if I got 1780 on The SAT, have 3 good reference letters, high school gpa 3.9, among the top 5% of my class, doing a semester of premed in my hometown university, personal statement said to be good, onlime employee, third in a science fair, best in a simulation of the EU, works for a charity organization, delivers medecine etc etc, participated in a women’s rights project, knows 3 languages, writes poetry

In the future, it might be helpful if you did not provide only thr acronym (WCMCQ) in posts. I’d wager that not CC reader in a hundred knows what that means, despite the fact that it is of burning importance to you. I Googled it and reviewed the germane, online information. Your composite SAT I score (1780) may be low; perhaps you want to re-take the examination, after some intensive preparation?

Too late now. Is it low for cornell qatar?:frowning:

I really don’t know, but (honestly) it’s very low for Cornell (or any other most-selective (say top approximately 35) National Research University).

Thanks :)) let’s hope for the best

Cornell Qatar is going to be far less competitive than the original campus. It’s like Webster University Geneva (I take this example because it’s near where I live). Webster University is a decent college, if not a very selective one. Webster University Geneva is on the same level as a bad community college-one student from my school was admitted despite a number of what most colleges would consider disqualifying factors (bad grades, laughably easy courses, multiple disciplinary red flags). To top it all off, he reportedly conducted his admissions interview on the phone while intoxicated at a party, and his first words to the interviewer upon receiving the phone call were “who the (redacted) is this?” Of course, Webster is much less selective than Cornell, but you can expect a similar gap in level.

Perhaps a better comparison is Georgetown SFS in Qatar. I was there for an open house last year during a conference in Doha (organized by the uni), and to be honest the school seemed second-rate. My high school is unremarkable, but most of my courses are more challenging than the classes that I and the other conference participants witnessed at Georgetown Qatar. I suspect these campuses are meant primarily as a way to make a quick buck off wealthy Qataris who want to send their sons (or, in a few cases, daughters) to an “American” university.
