Wearing apparel from school you've been accepted to?

I have been accepted to a few schools (Florida, Purdue, Texas, etc…) and while I am not sure about where I am going yet, I really like the apparel from the three I listed. Would it be pretentious to wear a hoodie from the school?

I thought you were a recruited athlete. Aren’t you creating a social media post to announce where you’ll be playing? That’s the hoodie I’d buy.

It is a free country. You can wear whatever hoodies you own. On May 1 of your senior year, it has become tradition to wear the shirt of the college you will actually attend, but you do you.

I know tons of kids who buy a hoodie or T-shirt at every college they visit and they wear them all.

My older D had clothes from several of the schools that she visited and wore them regularly. Once she decided/accepted, she retired the others and wore shirts from her school quite regularly.

I certainly don’t see how wearing apparel could be considered pretentious if you’ve been accepted.

My younger D is only a sophomore but regularly wears the Harvard/MIT/Yale shirts/hats we bought during visits, even though H/Y are no longer on her list. That’s kinda borderline.

I used to wear sweatshirts from schools I was sure I wouldn’t apply to (Oxford, Cambridge, Yale) because I didn’t want to get rejected and have the sweatshirt. If you’re in, wear it!

You can wear any hoodie you like. FWIW wearing a college’s hoodie does not automatically indicate to me that you were accepted to that particular college.

Personally I’d wear the hoodie from the school I decided to attend.

You can even buy a hoodie from The Gap with their logo if you’re taking a year off before applying.

Blaze your own trail in what you want to wear, most people don’t care and for those who think it is pretentious, its their problem not yours.

I have seen photos on college web sites showing students wearing clothing of a different college.

Agree with all the above comments, but I wonder why you are worried about this. If you worry that other kids at your school may still be anxiously waiting to hear from some of these schools or have already been rejected, maybe follow your own instinct at least until everything’s settled.
