Weather and Saturday's Admitted Student Visit Day

Watching the news makes it sound like Boston is shut down and will be for a while. We are due to travel to Boston tomorrow, but won’t go if we will be unable to attend Northeastern visit or do any visiting around Boston.
What is it really like in Boston right now and expected through Sunday?

@Mom2Son Boston is fine. Walking around the city, everything is clear. Airport is open. If you have a scheduled appointment at Northeastern then you should check to make sure it is all set, but I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t be.

There’s snow everywhere but Boston is definitely functioning, T running fine, streets clear enough to drive safely, no power outages/closings. Word on the street is there’s potential for yet another Nor’easter early-mid next week, but this weekend should be clear.

Confirming the other two posters above - even saw tours happening today even though the school was on a delayed start this morning. Boston has seen this pretty much every year.

If you are from a warmer clime this weekend would be a good experience in a Boston winter.

Thanks everyone for the fast replies. Experiencing a Boston winter will be a good thing for my warm climate raised son :wink: He thinks he wants snow…

We are also heading there this weekend. We are staying near Copley Square and flying red eye from Seattle into Logan Saturday morning. Looking on Google Maps, there are several transit options that are either SL1 bus to T Line combo or bus only. I see there are CharlieCards and CharlieTickets - I will look into those…

We will have Saturday open to walk around campus and the neighborhood. Is there something that probably won’t be covered on the typical campus tour (we are taking tour Sunday) that we should see/experience Saturday? We are looking for Northeastern related things for Saturday (not touristy stuff). My D is a biology major with an interest in medicine. We leave Sunday evening.

I recommend the logan express bus - leaves you off right at copley square - http://www.massport.com/logan-airport/to-from-logan/transportation-options/logan-express/back-bay/ - you can pay by credit card.

You will be walking distance from the school. If you do decide to use the T - charlie cards can be purchased in the back bay station (orange line - a block from copley). Orange line will take you to Ruggles (right in the middle of the campus- just two stops)

Since you are staying by Copley - I suggest walking around that neighborhood - the commons, the library, the prudential center, and newbury street,

@SeattleMom1

The silver line is a mess and not used by many here - I’d recommend the airport shuttle (free) to the Blue Line to Green Line - it’s my preferred airport method when not using Lyft/Uber.

Edit: Logan Express bus does indeed make more sense for Copley, scratch that

Answered the rest on your other thread, but starting at Copley should make that suggested route easy :slight_smile:
