Is the weather brutal in New London? We are from the south and just curious how cold it gets in New London.
Thanks!!!

It’s basically the same as most of New England, being a bit warmer in the winter. In the summer it’s in the 60s-low 80s and in the winter it’s in the 20s-30s. High winds are pretty likely due to the fact that New London is on the Long Island Sound.

Yes, CT weather will probably be a shock to your system! Especially in those shoreline areas where the wind gets pretty intense. These areas tend to get less snow than the higher elevations. But it’s all relative. Lol especially from someone coming from the south. Does CT get as cold as New Hampshire, Boston or Chicago? No. Not by a long shot.

20-30?? Maybe I’m wrong, but we usually find our way close to 0 degrees on many winter days. We are in NHV, a 45 minute ride, is it that much warmer in the winter? Of so, I’m shocked.

Today was in the 80s I believe and it’s still spring. Trust me, summers in CT will be well above 60 degrees. We often times hit 85 & above. Last year I believe we had 3 or 4 heat waves. Temps were close to 100.

@NewHavenCTmom I’m adding in November and late March to the mix which brings up the average temperature. In December-February prepare for single digit weather.

Ahhhh ok! Lol because I was thinking how lucky those folks down in New London are! The past 2 winters have been quite harsh and long. And the blizzard of February 2013 was a doozy. We had mountains of filthy ice until late May!

@chiavari It’s also worthy to mention that the weather is crazy inconsistent up North. Some winters are brutal (0-10 degree averages) and others are barely noticeable (still talking about under 30-40 degrees).
